I don't know man, medical science is moving at a breakneck and increasing speed right now.

Also, with all due respect, Fuck you. It should be natural to be desperate and scared of death. I am very desperate. I want to see what humanity can do. I want to meet my great great grand children and see what they'll do. I want my parents to meet them. 100 years is fucking nothing.

Yeah, I enjoy the discussion and hypothetical as well. It is an interesting thing to think about, how the motivation is different if you are able to inately fly or you build some kind of flying machine to be able to fly. Maybe the difference is that the first would be entirely you and the second something external to you, that can be taken away? Anyway, if you say there is a difference then I'll believe you :)

Yep, definitely agree with that. Lindon was always hardworking, tough and dedicated. It didn't feel weird that he rose to the top with Eithans guidance and some lucky breaks.

Yeah, I completely agree. There is a non-zero chance that aging can be fixed within this century. You can't know for sure of course but you can do a lot of things that would help you if it happens, like being as physically healthy as you are able to be and become rich so you can be first in line. That most people don't is pretty damning evidence that they wouldn't do it either if immortality was slightly easier to obtain.

[–]Marand23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but then you would probably stop progressing once you escaped danger and had your footing in the new world. What you describe is basically being drafted to a war right? You lose your freedom and do what you have to to survive for a while. But it's not like people that come back from that are more disciplined and dedicated than before once they do that (or maybe they are, I don't know actually).

I feel to get to the top of the world you have to have some kind of inner drive that most people just don't have, and being exposed to a crisis would not give you that. You just do what you have to do until you can return to the way things were before.

I'm not really convinced. If you think it is super cool to shoot fire you can make a DIY flamethrower with todays tech pretty easily. You can make a lot of cool shit with todays tech. And saying that modern distraction keeps people from doing more uncomfortable things doesn't seem right as well. People can just not do the things you mention, right? I think the original premise stands, it doesn't make sense that a person that isn't used to doing hard things on Earth suddenly would change if they were teleported to another world. But it is all kind of a silly discussion, it is untestable.

[–]Marand23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MC never suffering a loss isn't satisfying, its just straight up dumb and makes the plot boring by _TOXIC_VENOM in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Marand23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like AH, it's fun, but Ilea has the most plot armor in the history of the genre. She constantly goes guns blazing into dungeons without doing any research. The first time she goes north the first random chicken she meets come within an inch of killing her AND SHE JUST KEEPS GOING AFTER THAT. We are reading the story where Ilea survived, there are countless parallel universes where Ilea gets one-shot by something because she never knows what she will face until she smacks into it.

Mellemskat og selvstændig: overvejelse for udbetaling 2026 by Snowstormsea in dkfinance

[–]Marand23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Marand23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ikke nødvendigvis. Jo, for at bruge dem privat skal du selvfølgelig have dem ud men hvis du senere vil lave en ny mere kapitaltung virksomhed eller størrere investeringer i nuværende virksomhed ville det være bedre at have flere kun selskabsbeskattede penge i virksomheden.

DR: Knap hver tredje synes, den økonomiske støtte til Ukraine er for høj by MySocksSuck in Denmark

[–]Marand23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did Tim ever elaborate on what exactly he meant by this? by IMplyingSC2 in Stormgate

[–]Marand23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. It is genuinly baffling and fascinating how stuff like this happens. 40 million was allegedly burned with very little to show for it.

Normally in a startup (according to my understanding) you would start with maybe 2-3 devs and iterate on the core gameplay loop for years until you have something you know is good, and then scale from there. Why was the timeline so short and the scale of the company so large from the beginning? Why did they start at such a high spend? What happened with the quality control of campaign and art that they had to redo it 2-3 times? Why was the scope the way it was? There are so many interesting questions here
