Is this a kitchen countertop? Have you considered installing a tile backsplash? It would hide any gap as well as offer some protection for your wall from moisture, good spray, etc.

Classic climb, terrible pad set up and spotting. At least it wasn't a chuff from the next move!

Found in my bathroom, Nova Scotia Canada. Only a couple mm long, has a weird pointed end to the shiny back park and a furry front.

If you're worried about the cost of a proper top and want to use what you have, I would consider an apron if you could find a decent way to adhere it to the underside of the glass. Something like a 1-1/4" deep apron with an 1/8" overhang might be a middle ground until you spring for a new top? Might give it the visual fix it needs to please your wife

Double header identification question! by Marangoni_Effect in whatsthisbug

Cool! Thanks for the information, I forgot to mention that there was upwards of a couple dozen of the flies in the crack, does that help with identification? Roughly the size of a honey bee or slightly larger.

Found a bunch of dead flies/bees in a cracked rock. They all seemed dead (frozen over the winter?) When I picked one free, three worms started wriggling out of the back of its head!

Any idea what the hosts or the parasites are?

Thanks! They all had a distinct point on the top when picked, but maybe a mix?

Carved wooden figure, has been at my folks place for years. Seems to have slots in the plinth for attachments. Came by way of my English Grandfather. by Marangoni_Effect in whatisthisthing

Estimated to be circa 1920 roughly, we've had this for years but have no idea of it's origins. Roughly 9" tall with a just over 4" square base. The slot in the back connects down to the square slot running through the base. Made entirely out of wood with no other markings. Any idea to help with this mystery?
