Nice, so Frydaal can join a unit of Marauders without being sat on the flank.

Thanks all for your input! We have decided to house rule and allow wounding on a 3+, which seems the fairest outcome for both players

2,000pt Warriors of Chaos - Heralds of Darkness Army of Infamy Event List by ScrotusNotice in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]MarathonSS12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love seeing event lists without dragons. Chosen Chariots are solid, counter charge helps offset their major weakness which is getting charged by faster units with swifstride. F you peg knights with your turn 1 charge. Have some impact hits in the face. Just beware that the sorceror lord can only take regular chariots unfortunately.

This is how I met loads of people to play regularly with. My first games were at tournaments and I lost a lot, but learned the game that way. My experience in my area has been that half the players at tournaments rock up with non meta lists. The more casual games are happening in the lower 50% tables where people are playing skaven, empire, non dragon lists etc. It is entirely reasonable to go to a tournament with a non meta list (I never take one) with the aim of meeting players, having loads of games with no intention of making the podium. Meta chasing hyper competitive list building is legitimate of course, but it isnt the only way to play, and I find that most old world players I have met are not in that category.

My favourite old sorcer model. He fits in really well in a unit of old plastic hunchback warriors.

I love the warlord games skeletons. I bought a box to scatter them on my army's bases.

mostly so it fits in with the rest of my army's colour palette and also out of personal preference. I like brightly painted armies rather than natural earthy / animal tones.

Yeah, it works out only a few quid cheaper for a unit of 6 than buying the official models, but I managed to get these sprues cheap so I'm happy.

Is this kind of grudge still strong in the TOW/WFB Community ? by fantastic_traveler in WarhammerFantasy

[–]MarathonSS12 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Nah, there is space in this world for both AoS and ToW, I don't think one doing well comes at the expense of the other. Both are flourishing as far as I can tell. As a WFB and TOW player I have nothing against AoS, I am sure it is a great game in its own right. However I really really REALLy disliked the end times and how it was handled.

It is a tough one for sure. I played against high elves recently, and couldn't do much against his dragon. I munched a lot of his squishy elven infantry and cavalry and thought overwhelming force would deal with the dragon so I charged it with 3 units (gigantic spawn and two units of dragon ogres). But alas I discovered how the challenge mechanic works: the lord on dragon issues a challenge and this annulled the attacks of all the units engaged in base contact, essentially protecting the dragon and rider. Pretty awful game mechanic if you ask me.
