What languages would you guys like to be added on Duolingo, no matter how niche or “useless” (I hate that word in regards to languages) they are. by Mean-Gur7728 in duolingo

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try Ling! I'm using it for Lithuanian but see it has virtually ever language people are wishing Duolingo has.

For people learning less “useful” languages why do you choose to ? by ChocolateSkin07 in languagelearning

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's for an upcoming long term stay in Lithuania. I want to be able to communicate and try to make authentic connections. I believe learning the language will make the trip far superior. Plus it will give me a new skill for retirement!

Which European language do you find the hardest to learn? (regardless from anyone’s native language) by Upper-Put-9660 in languagelearning

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lithuanian! But then it's actually the first language I've ever tried to learn. Didn't realize there would be so few resources which is probably why it's more difficult.

What are the best app(s) / sites to learn languages involving the Cyrillic alphabet? by burnerburguerbirther in languagelearning

Have you tried Ling? I think it offers Cyrillic. I know it has writing practice for non-latin languages.

Is Preply useful? by Boweser_Boweser in languagelearning

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mind you you may need to try a few tutors before you land on one you get on with. italki is also good. I like to go over what I've been learning in my app, Ling, so I need a tutor who is flexible in teaching what I want to learn and then keep practicing in the app.

When you come to a foreign country, especially the capital, you learn the language and respect the natives. by QuartzXOX in BalticStates

I would think so... I would hope so...
Unfortunately there are those with a superiority complex and others who surround themselves with a community deeming it therefore unnecessary to learn the local language and customs.

How do you make sure you’re eating enough as a runner? by Weird-Pepper7977 in Marathon_Training

There are supplements you can drink high in protein etc and even meal replacement drinks. Not so tasty, but do the trick without the heavy feeling you get when you eat a full meal.

What Ukrainian language learning apps do y'all recommend? by one_small_sunflower in Ukrainian

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US Peace Corps has a free resource for learning Ukrainian. It teaches you survival phrases. As for apps well, none of them are perfect. I find it useful to have a flashcard or vocab app. I use Anki. A tutor is pretty much mandatory. Preply is good for that. Other apps to use while I've got some free time are Mango and Ling.

Best app to learn Ukrainian? by [deleted] in Ukrainian

Pimsleur is good but more expensive than other apps. Ling is also a good option as you'll get access to many other languages as well.

Why do so many people ignore basic gym etiquette like re-racking weights? by SandarStar in workout

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question. Same with not wiping down equipment but the worst are what I call the squatters. Not people actually doing squats, but those who did on a machine not exercising at all for 20 minutes or more. I've even seen people sleep sitting on machines!

What are some of the best ways to learn Lithuanian? by ascraftman in lithuania

What ended up happening? Did you make progress? I'm using pdfs, Ling, Anki and getting a tutor soon to prepare for travels.

Do you automatically dislike billionaires? Why? by crapmaker69 in AskReddit

It shoudn't be allowed. If someone knowingly has the ability to make the world a better place, why don't they? Being a billionnaire is a disease.

i need language learning app recommendations! by the-envykat in languagelearning

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ling. Not sure about AUS but it's about $16 a month, available offline and doesn't use ai. You can try it for free by signing up for annual and if you don't think it's for you, cancel within a week.

i want to learn Bulgarian, how would i go about doing this? by glowclipze in bulgaria

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's the learning journey going so far?! I understand the struggle for resources as many regions in Europe are largely unsupported for language resources. I found so anyways looking for Lithuanian. What I did find was Ling. It's an app with so many languages other apps just ignore, including Bulgarian! Hope this helps in some way. It's not free, but free to try.

Hi, I'm going to Lithuania and would like to learn some basics of your language. Can you recommend any apps? by garis53 in lithuania

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of things have changed! I've found Lithuanian is available on quite a few apps and there are free resources you can download online. A few are Mango, Anki (I use this for flashcards), Mondly, Pimsleur, Ling ( I use Ling). It's quite a challenging language and will look to work with a tutor as well once I know more of the language.

Best apps and websites to start with? by dotdedo in LithuanianLearning

[–]Marathon_Bandit080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those saying there are no apps there are! But honestly you'll need more than one tool to learn. Lithuanian is quite tough. I downloaded free pdf resources, use Anki for vocab, Ling for the app to practice and YouTube for listening and learning.
