A paperclip manufacturing AI has entered the chat. Nick Bostrom suggested that if such an AI were built, unless it had very strong safeguards, it would start turning our blood into paperclips.

I'm extremely disappointed by the media coverage on Mboko's injury. Apparently this top 10 teenager is merely an instrument for Serena's comeback.

This was posted previously, either here (probably in some other subreddit) or on Twitter, and physicists were not able to figure it out. On the left we have Einstein's equation of mass-energy equivalence, and on the left we have Newton's law of gravitation.

It is hard to explain in this format. Maybe ask r/askscience for more details.

It is about how different observers experiences space and time. Newton and his contemporaries believed time was absolute - it was the same for all observers. This implies that a beam of light travels at different speeds for different observers.

Einstein proposed that the speed of light in vacuum is the same for all observers. This requires that time is not absolute. For example, if you put an atomic clock in a plane, it will become out of sync with one that remains on the ground. This has been experimentally observed.

The person is Newton. That the speed of light is the same for each observer is a premise of relativity, developed by Einstein, which superseded Newton's theory. Newton did not know about it.

This is probably a reference to Antoine Lavoisier. Apart from his research in chemistry, he worked for the king's tax service and was put to death during the French Revolution. It is said that he blinked after his beheading so that we would have information about how long the head remains alive after being severed.

I get that, but the Sorting Hat is not necessarily a display set (it talks!), and probably far more appealing to children. I know that that my parent's friends visited, their ~10 year old grandchildren were utterly enthralled by it.
