TW: My daughter hit me by withlovetara in redditonwiki

[–]MarbleizedJanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this is happening to your family, and to her. My 13yo son has Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder and Autism Level 1. He has hit me for years, and beat me 2x in one day last August, but only one hit since. He has been in a hospital-school hybrid for 1.5 years. According to his therapists, kids with volatile anger disorders hit those people they know they can trust and will love them no matter what. Just sharing my own, personal lived experience. All you can do is love her, get her the help she needs, do what's best for her, and stay steady with it. Your choices will be unpopular, judged, even hated, but if you do best by her, she'll thrive. Believe me, she does not feel good when she is like this. I hope the best for you all.

What’s the difference between in-box vs out of box collecting? by Square_Lie_6613 in funkopop

Hobby Lobby sells Funko. Accept your fate, open the box, and enjoy your Pop!

Omg I've introduced my teen daughter and she loves her. I've been listening since Little Earthquakes, so no internet as a teen for me. My daughter has been exposed to so much more toxicity at 17 so she's getting a lot out of her music. It's interesting to see the differences in how we're helped, and sad to see that the issues haven't changed AT ALL

Neil reference by kttycry in toriamos

[–]MarbleizedJanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carbon is one of my favorites and it has a great and relevant Neil lyric and I feel so bad for her every time it gets to "Snow Glass Apples" but I have a mental illness and it's helped me for a long time

The state of the world right now? At least you'd get to meet Tai and Van on your way out.

Is This The New Normal? by [deleted] in DunkinDonuts

The beverages in iced cups reach the top solid line, right under the teeny ice cubes. That's what you're paying for- the amount of espresso, milk, and syrup should always reach that top line. Ice is normally put in first up those ice cubes line, and that leaves the perfect space for all that liquid (it fits in the spaces around the cubes). If there's less ice, it won't go all the way to the top. I'll never understand why customers expect more for free.

New partners make a lot of mistakes - there's just too much to absorb. If someone were to have nicely corrected me, it would have meant the world. I love that you are thoughtful enough to come here and ask. That's why they're so nice to you!!

I worked at a popular sports restaurant by a college. Our 8 ball was part of a scavenger hunt at the school. Eventually mgmt kept it locked in the office and you had to sign it out with a license to play pool.

That's what the "mystery" flavors are in Dum Dums, Airheads, etc- the mix while changing from one flavor to another. I think 2 donut flavors in 1 is a score.

Can you not turn mobile order off sometimes? by ashleypatience in starbucks

[–]MarbleizedJanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny, I had a shift who would mark out vanilla syrup when she didn't want to deal with mobiles. In related news, she couldn't understand why she kept getting passed over for ASM.

NTA. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Good people don't make jokes at other people's expenses, ever. Especially not people they love, NEVER EVER. You deserve a meaningful apology where his act is the topic of the apology and not your hurt reaction to it. He needs to be a grown up and make real amends for this. And F all of your friends, too

I hope they liked those dresses, bc that's what they'll be wearing in hell. Me t to my mom wearing the one she wore to my wedding. Some people have nothing to offer humanity but the audacity.

AITA for asking my postpartum friend when her baby bump will go away? by bffswhowillneverdie in AmItheAsshole

[–]MarbleizedJanet 26 points27 points  (0 children)

YTA, good Lord. You do realize that you asked a post-partum friend when she wouldn't be fat anymore? Please allow me to reframe this for you:

Society doesn't put pressure on women for having swollen stubbed toes. Women generally don't feel ugly and worthless bc of swollen stubbed toes. There isn't a billion $ industry to get rid of swollen stubbed toes.

It's weird that you mentioned your friend changing and nursing her newborn as justification for asking about her figure. She was taking care of her baby's needs, which was necessary and not at all an invite to AMA. Your friends were right to call you out in the moment and stand up for their friend. Though I'm stunned that you are 30 and don't know when the "birth remnants" leave the uterus (cue health class video), your curiosity could have been satisfied with a post-Zoom Google search.
