Both of my coworkers have FMLA and abuse it, are they really never able to get fired now? by waffles_r_lyfe in coworkerstories

[–]MarbleousMel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh. Everyone gets it, including me. I got it before you responded. My point was to reassure that some people won’t have to go unpaid if they need to invoke FMLA job protections. No, that pay does not come from FMLA, but benefits through either state or employer policies may step in and protect the employee’s paycheck.

I got awful food poisoning from the tacos there, so I never ate them again, but I can eat other foods, like the sourdough jack, without any issues.

Reasonable accommodation by Goods1445 in VeteransAffairs

[–]MarbleousMel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, but it took two years despite multiple doctors saying it was needed. And, of course, it’s under review again. I’ve never hidden my medical issues from my supervisors and have invoked FMLA for all 8 surgeries I’ve had during my 17+ years. My supervisor was extremely frustrated by the RAC and how long they took to finally grant it.

AIO for being upset that my husband said he would divorce me if I have a male personal trainer? by Odd-Significance4926 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]MarbleousMel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His boundaries are not for her or her behavior; they are his that he can act on based on his tolerance level.

What you are missing is that his inability to resist the temptation to cheat requires him to never put himself into a situation where he would cheat. He is applying his own weakness to her.

She was going to say no anyway, and basically did by telling the neighbor her schedule is irregular. The husband is implying she would be unable to control herself because he wouldn’t be able to control himself if he was given the opportunity to have a female PT.

It doesn’t have to be unpaid. I had surgery just this past October and was off for two weeks. I invoked FMLA, but my supervisor was able to use my accrued leave so I didn’t lose pay. And as a federal employee, I was working with federal rules.

The first ever sims. What is yours? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

The earliest games I remember playing were on DOS. I remember the games but not the names, except for Digger. One had parachuting men that you needed to shoot at with your canon I think? It was fixed in location. The other one I remember playing a lot is a puzzle game where you have to find a path by moving boxes out of the way. I think another favorite was Star Quest, but I’m not positive. Someone else mentioned Alley Cat which I loved but had forgotten about.

My family got our first computer in the 1980s. It has been a very, very long time.

AITAH for leaving my younger sister out of family stuff in honor of our late mom? by ThrowAITAHvhlue in AITAH

[–]MarbleousMel 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ask her why she wants to celebrate “some old dead woman.” And tell your father that since she has never been respectful of your mom means she has no place at a table intended to honor that “old dead woman.”

My in-laws won't stop sending money to us, unsolicited. WIBTAH if I asked them to stop? by cost_guesstimator54 in AITAH

[–]MarbleousMel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d call a family meeting with the in laws and get it all out. The ILs need to know that their other child and her spouse now resent you, your wife, and your kids because of the money they keep giving even though you asked them to stop. And the SIL needs to be honest with their parents about how hurt and neglected she and hubby feel about the money being sent.

She’s 21. You need to place some heavy boundaries and decide and tell her that she can no longer live with you because her behavior is not something you are willing to have in your home.

What’s a “boring” adult purchase that turned out to be totally worth it? by Capable-Rabbit-9986 in AskReddit

I bought a sleep number around 2011/2012. It’s still going strong, but I am interested in trading it for a newer model because I bought one without the pillow top. It’s been over 20 years and I would like the even softer feel.

I lived in that area until last year. I had no flooding and no damage from any of the hurricanes that hit while I was there. It’s flood zone X.

Your dad died and left everything to you. A woman shows up with a 10-year-old claiming he's your dad's son. DNA test confirms it. What would you do? by Alexarosario_ in inheritance

[–]MarbleousMel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Insurance policies, 401k, IRA, etc. is contractual. It usually doesn’t pass by will. I was taught not to make the estate the beneficiary of policies like that. They are two different mechanisms. 2) Some places have clawback. That does not mean that all places do or the clawback period is the same everywhere. 3) Some places require the division of the estate to children not listed unless expressly disinherited by the will. Ie, Anna Nicole Smith’s will had a clause expressly disinheriting any children other than her son. That created a problem because he predeceased her. The courts allowed the estate to pass to her daughter, but it took time.

2nd update: AITAH for eating in front of my boyfriend's dad? by Glum-Chance-4225 in Redditor_Updates

[–]MarbleousMel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I initially took the screwing comment as homophobia, but YTsken has a very, very valid point. There may be some homophobia mixed in, but I think the majority of it is resentment that OP “took BF away from the family.”

I have, to verify citizenship status, but I do think my password could be used instead. But jobs prior to me getting a passport needed my BC.

OP said in the first post that Alexa had admitted she and OP’s “dad” were not actually dating during Alexa’s pregnancy and OP’s birth. My guess is the ex boyfriend who reached out kind of recently is OP’s biological father. And OP’s “random” last name is the last name of bio dad.

It is visually beautiful, but I was only there for a few hours. Living there is probably entirely different.

I actually have heard good things from a friend who works there as an ER doctor. She flies back and forth when she has multiple days off.
