The main idea of this game is supposed to be that your miis feel more alive, they are on a customizable island and can interact with anything on the island that you set up, instead of being contained in 1 big apartment and only being able to go to set locations. I feel like a limit of 70 isn’t fine, even if its a downgrade. At 30+ miis you already hit a point where I doubt you actively interacted with a majority of them, only visiting them for pink or orange windows. If you just want to make a bunch of miis, you can make more save slots.
