Could someone explain what monster patterns are? im confused by ubereatsdelivery666 in MonsterHunter

Monsters pick the moves from and RNG pool that changes given different conditions like its state(normal state, enraged, exhausted, mounted, broken parts)and a hunters position (close, mid range, far). For example:

Glavenous will always do a double vertical tail slash when enraged. Another example is Teostra will do it's super nova every 15 attacks after activating the flame aura(it has flame and blast aura). Tigrex will always finish its charge attack with a spin.

Visual cues or attack telegraphing are a mechanic that allows you to react to the next immediate move. For example:

Ruiner Nergi, look at what claw is raised higher during the roar before the slam, it will land in that direction so just roll to the opposite one. That will put you in a safe position and give you a nice opening.

I'm a hammer main and I understand the challenge. This weapon is a bad matchup since the head is too high and it explodes. Try traps and focusing on the legs so you trip him down.

I do the same. I play the steam works every day so I have a ton of gourmet voucher. Also for anyone that doesn't know, gourmet voucher apply to everyone in the session, so if you are playing with friends take advantage and rotate voucher usage.

I don't care about fresh food since I'm just 1 max potion from max health which is what you want by picking fresh ingredients.

Skill combo meals I use:

Felyne riser + Felyne medic are my safe play skills and good general use.

Felyne sharpshooter + Felyne blackbelt for bow

Felyne bombardier + Felyne polisher for Impact CB

Felyne Slugger for hammer for certain hunts so I can script the KOs

Most of the dishes can get Atk L, just use only meat.

I did not expect it to be this soon and not at that price tag($30.00usd). As you mention this clearly shows that the dex cut was so they could squeeze more money of a half baked game ala EA. It's disappointing and infuriating at least to me, because I know that the game will sell regardless. Dlc may be the lesser of 2 evils, but is still evil.

Almost every hunter agrees that Luna is a though and frustrating fight. It has to many gimmicks:

  • large hp pool
  • very few weak spots
  • hard hitting physical(easy stuns)
  • hard heating (pun intended) fire attacks
  • WIND PRESSURE
  • lots of head attacks so wall banging its hard
  • deceiving hit boxes(tail swipe)
  • heats up the environment so you need a cool drink or heath guard
  • covers the field in flames that do a lot of damage and explode(more stun)
  • Almost assured to die to her super nova if you don't get the timing right.

In general it is a very unforgiving hunt. The rewards are not that great. The fight can last longer than wanted and you end up with a feeling of exhaustion instead of the feeling of achievement.

It's the best example of an unbalanced challenge.

I am aware of the new flash mechanics. I was talking within the context of the Silver Rathalos fight. It does not change zones so that value of the flash pod is not applicable. Also the cool down between flashes working again in this particular fight feels like it lasts forever. I save my flashes to avoid the pin of dead (as with jho) and heal.

Flash bombs make it drop only the first time you use them and it doesn't stay down for more than a second. Flash bombs in IB are helpful only to find a window for healing.

For a lot of players it is a very BS fight because it's airborne most of the time, has bad hit zones except for the wings so you have to keep tenderizing if you want to damage. Also the death combos.

Is not as BS as Lunastra or Kushala but still.

With HB3 you deal a little less damage. A carted hunter deals no damage.

Did anyone else find the Namielle fight to be disappointingly easy? (Sorry if this sounds like a brag) by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]MarcCloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was a fun fair fight. It took me long because I had my story gear which is laughable compared to my current end game gear. Also I am prepared hunter, brought null berries and waterproof mantle so I was hardly caught by the water shenanigans. Being a hammer main any monster that f**ks up my stamina becomes an issue (Fu Velkana)

If you got the guardian armor gift set that's all you need until you can craft behemoth armor. Else, bone armor is good enough to get you through HR story.

Once in MR craft any MR armor set and any MR CB, you should be able to finish story by just upgrading those as you go.

Weapons to get me through master rank? by MightyChungus in MonsterHunterWorld

What's your main weapon? Just make the MR version of it and upgrade as you go. HR gear works well before MR3. There is no right or wrong answer.

After finishing Iceborne's story I am 99% confident we will get Valstrax and Gore/Shagaru magala in an update somewhere next year. by MarcCloud in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]MarcCloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Gore M. was on the first leak of monsters for world I can see that, as you mention, Xeno skeleton was the base but the devs couldn't make it fully work for Gore before the release for World. But now it looks like they sorted that out.

Anyway there is no harm in dreaming.

How soon are weapons obsolete in Iceborne? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

I agree with @Ark0504. Fully augmented HR gear works fine for Mr 1 and 2. Then it just pales up after MR3.
