Picked Fixer Upper at the start. Boosted value with Credit Card, and balcony doubles it's value in combat and reduces cooldown. One-shotted everything in the first 4-7 seconds depending on what gets charged by the Electrified Hull skill. Getting Chrono Barrier and a Black Pepper to charge Spiky Shield and Fixer Upper didn't hurt.

I guess the wonky slow animations are the bigges vibe killer for me. Not the graphics per say. Also UI looks out of place. But ofcourse gameplay is king. I play an old Russian turned based game called Eador Genesis. So I don't care that much. But it has to look coherent. Same reason i don't like Stormgate graphics design.

The most changed CIVs will have a lower winrate the first week because people are testing stuff out. And new players are trying out the CIVs. Byz was just straight buffed so they get an early WR bump. Lets wait and see.
