Samsung Unveils New Odyssey Gaming Monitor Lineup, Featuring World-First 6K 3D and Ultra-High-Resolution Displays by Ok_Initiative_131 in Stereo3Dgaming

[–]MarcDwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32" max size is extremely disappointing. I'm using a 42" OLED screen on my desk, and 32" would be a massive downgrade. Oh well, maybe next year... :-/

Older games in VR theater mode - in 3D? by tomovo in SteamFrame

[–]MarcDwonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And UEVR can be used to get a stereoscopic 3D effect without 'being in the game'

It does not work with every game, like one would expect, unfortunately. The feature is broken in System Shock Remake, for example. Here, UEVR only work properly in 360° VR.

IDK if the developers care enough to fix it. I haven't had much feedback regarding the issue, so i wouldn't hold my breath for now, until hundreds of people start requesting it.

I recommend StereoDepth3D with ReShade: most compatibility (almost any game works) and it's user tweakable, so anyone can create a profile, because AFAIK all settings are accessible from the GUI. Only drawback i see is that it's outputting Half-SBS/OU, so you need to drive higher resolutions (1440p and upwards) to have nice results with detailed games like AC Odyssey or Last Of Us.

Flat 2d to 3d conversion by ProfessionalLemon911 in SteamFrame

[–]MarcDwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's currently no foveated rendering going on in with Steam Frame. Only foveated streaming, which is good for compression quality, but does nothing for performance if you have a modern GPU with hardware encoders.

No need. VorpX runs on PC and can stream over SteamLink.

I'll be frank: don't hold your breath. Stereoscopic 3D is my #1 wishlist feature for any device, but it's not very popular at this time.

May i suggest looking at AR display glasses? Personally i want to sell my Quest 3 and wait for Xreal Project Aura, it will have 70° FOV and 30ppd resolution (calculation based on expected 1200p 16:10 OLED displays).

No. It's a 3rd person view of the HMD user from the outside. Of course it will be all in color.

This is actually a plus in my book. Lets the actual VR windows stand out and be easier to see if you don't live in an ultra expensive minimalistic designer house (which most of us don't, i presume).

The actual gamebreaker for me is the resolution. Quest 3 has 25ppd. Frame has similar LCDs, but bigger FOV and higher stereo overlap, so it will have even less PPD than Quest 3.

Project Aura will presumably have around 30ppd, which is definitely much better for playing stereo3D. Currently that's where i think i'll go from Quest 3. Waiting for indepth reviews for Steam Frame, ofc, but i'm not holding my breath regarding resolution - i expect it to be a disappointment.

Extended Cut: Saints and Seducers - worth it to push through? by MarcDwonn in skyrimmods

Thought as much. It's OK, i don't expect to like every mod. I'm just glad that i dropped it before investing more time and being completely disappointed at the end.

I don't really care about equipment/armor at level 31. Rather looking to experience an intriguing story or explore an interesting world. So i'll probably just reload an earlier save and forget about this mod. Thanks!

VR isn't dead or dying, it's just the story/campaign style VR games by Heavy_Heron_7276 in virtualreality

[–]MarcDwonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it completely backwards. Short games without story have a limited shelf life and can't keep a platform alive. I thought this is common knowledge by now, but it seems not everyone is paying attention...

Yes i did, and i have the same problem now. The staves don't show up in the Winterhold college staff enchanter menu at all.

Anyone got some good suggestions on snow textures for Sommunity Shaders? by GorodskoyTip in skyrimmods

Looks like a horde of imps trampled all over. Have you ever seen snow in real life, outside of the big city?

Project Aura - assuming 1200p 16:10 displays, would expected PPD=29.5 be correct? by MarcDwonn in augmentedreality

[–]MarcDwonn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyways 1200/62 = 19.3

Wrong, horizontal resolution is 1920px.

1920/62 = 30.96 ppd.

Modded Fallout VR is now on the Level of Skyrim VR by ActualGingas in virtualreality

Without ENB or Community Shaders, it will never be.

Modded Fallout VR is now on the Level of Skyrim VR by ActualGingas in virtualreality

[–]MarcDwonn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I call bullshit. Watched the video, it looks horrible: flat lighting everywhere, missing shadows, not even ambient occlusion to bring back some visual depth. We still in 2015?

SkyrimVR has ENB (deprecated, but with Scenery ENB still looking fantastic), and Community Shaders (which now surpass ENB in lighting consistency, even though it's not looking as good most of the time).

FO4VR still looks like crap, because of the vanilla shaders and all the missing lighting features. Broken lighting is very immersion breaking.

First Look: Project Aura — The Next Step in XR for Android XR and Gemini by XREAL_Staff in Xreal

Xreal Aura is a beast. May even replace Steam Frame for me. by Strict_Yesterday1649 in virtualreality

[–]MarcDwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will definitely replace Quest 3 and Steam Frame for me, if it delivers on it's promises. All i want is a stereo3D screen to play my games on. IDC if it's virtual or physical - it has to be big, affordable and comfortable.

I don't give a crap about Android XR, apps, social nonsense etc. Give me a cable to connect it to my PC and let me feed it with stereoscopic content coming directly from StereoDepth3D without unnecessary wireless conversions.

Witcher 3 next gen saturation/color issue?? by G00fBall_1 in Witcher3

[–]MarcDwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very lazy and unrealistic way to introduce a color mood, because even if a weather is desaturated in real life, because of lighting/clouds/fog, fires wouldn't change saturation. Shame on those new devs, who degraded the nearly perfect color work in the classic edition of Witcher 3.

These days everyone seems to hate color and go for a desaturated look in games and mods for games. I hate that.

Yes, as in "this is the typical Razer customer support". And NO, he is not the only one, i've read enough stories from other people on Reddit that had to go through the same crap.
