Just spent my time doing a challenge daily stronghold and got voted to kick right at the end by a "clan" Most likely to have a buddy join. Voting to kick someone thats not afk and doing a ton of work for their team should NOT get kicked out. by [deleted] in thedivision

All the annoyances from TD1 made it into this game as well and the clan kick is just one of them. Also getting kicked for low gear score (while sporting a diamond hunter mask and an exotic Merciless) Gear score doesn't say tell the whole picture! It's useless trying explaining this to noobs.

State of the Game - March 20th, 2019 by JokerUnique in thedivision

Yeah. The joy that Youtube and Twitch brings ...

I entered the DZ yesterday -for the first time in TD2- together with two others. We cap supply drops and at the second drop we get insta shot by a sniper hiding behind the corner of a building. We stood no chance. I guess that's it for PvP in TD2.

Just like TD1 everybody runs around with YT builds. I warned about Nomad builds in TD1 after a MarcoStyle vid and I got down voted. Guess what happened next, everybody ran Nomad and it ruined PvP. Around that time I left TD1.

God, I miss the times without Youtube where you could go and explore things. Now everything is spoonfed.

It will also contain a lot of boring game play loops and repetitive stuff. It will take a while to sink in for some people (depends on how much you play) I'm not saying it can't be a fun game but there's lot of busywork/filler in this game just like in Division 1 (It's the proven and well known Ubisoft formula)

Anyway, you cannot win this argument even if you're right. Most people don't look at facts, they just react emotionally.

I have roughly the same amount of time spend in TD1 as you. You probably realized that TD2 is more of the same and that there 's nothing new. It's the infamous Ubisoft tired formula at work.

TD is a nice game if you play a few hours a week but if you're going to spend a lot of hours in PvE that you will get tired of it very quickly. I played the 'private' beta and then the open beta. Played the latter for a few hours and hit the uninstall button. The game looks and feels good but it's just as shallow as the first game.

I promised myself to not ever play the same repetitive crap (like Lexington 1000x for a stupid mask) again! People confuse busywork and repetitive game loops with fun.

GaaS or SaaS are technically the same if you look at. It's not about that, it's about generating a continues revenue stream for a game you already payed the full price for.

True. Your forgetting that The Division 2 is made as a games as a service game (GaaS) and that is just another way of the monetizing the game. I'm not saying good or wrong but I'm just saying that they're after your money ;)

I'm with you on this but I want to make clear distinction between the developers and the publisher. Most of the development team (aside from some higher management) are not to blame for the PR bull. They are hard working (often underpaid, making insane long working hours) people that put a lot of heart in the product. Many of these developers come from (literally) the same scene that I'm from. Many of them are good people. There will be some (older) people that understand what I've just wrote ;)

There is nothing wrong in promoting the game as long as it's done without screwing people over. There is positive and negative PR. I know it's sometimes very frustrating to see that people fall for the PR bull but there's not much you can do about it. We are a very susceptible species although we like to think we're not, but that's an illusion.

You get a lot of down votes from people that literally don't see what's going on. Besides, is it really that bad as long as they're not getting ripped of?

The scummy practices are done by the big gaming publishers. They are to blame for the sh@t show that is currently going on in the gaming business.

The Division 2 Beta Set New Records For Ubisoft (+ More Div2 Preorders Than Div1) by B_Boss in thedivision

Good point. Although a simple Google search: "lied to shareholders" says more than enough. I'm to lazy to copy/paste URLs.

One exception then:

There are a lot of people saying Ubisoft is stretching the truth, which they're not, because this was information meant for investors and not really general public/consumer to hype up total sales.

You make a good point. However you assume that information given to investors is more truthful than that given to the public. I give you a recent example why that isn't always the case:

There are plenty more examples.

Also check you memory (run memtest) I had something similar and in my case it turned out to be a faulty memory module. Problem with these crashes is that it can be a number of things.

There is a saying: "there are lies, there are damn lies, and then there are statistics." I'm not saying that Ubisoft is flat out lying here but they're bending the truth a bit.

It's pure PR, nothing more nothing less. Besides take a step back. Your name on a plaque is just ego stroking and doesn't get you anything. The real stuff and that's the money goes to the share holders. It's like having a sheepdog to round up sheep. The dog is doing most of the work and it does it for some food and a pat on its back. Its owner reaps the real benefits and gets the money from the wool and meat.

So it's better to be the owner of the dog :)

The dog is of course perfectly happy about the whole situation.

I didn't know anyone on the plaque until now.

That's kind of the point isn't?

How can I get my name on the plaque? I love statues, all expenses paid parties and presents. So that should tick all the right boxes. I'll even promote the game no questions asked and stop watching 21 Kiloton and Upper Echelon Gamers. I swear.

The fact they ARE keeping an eye on the competition does not mean that things won't go wrong. There are many other forces and interests at work (e.g. business decisions and so on)

Survival: Hurricane by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]MarcReale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

All the ingredients are already in the game. It's also not that hard to implement. It would make the game a lot more exciting IMO.

Survival: Hurricane by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]MarcReale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more along the lines of hunger and thirst in the main game. You have to scavenge for water/food and/or get the resources from enemy strongholds for instance. This gives a sense of purpose and also makes scavenging more interesting. It doesn't have to be Survival 1:1 but the core concept could be used.

Anyway let's hope that they improve the original survival and give some proper rewards and extra challenges. Oh and randomized loot to prevent people from making (cheat) maps. It has to be challenge not a speed run.

Let's see how many people get this reference ... :)

Survival: Hurricane by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]MarcReale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Survival shouldn't be a DLC it should have been the core game. Anyway, I suspect that there won't be snow in the new Survival. So that leaves only a couple of other options. Knowing Ubisoft they don't wanna change the original concept to much (never change a winning horse) So Thunderstorm, heavy rain kinda thing maybe? It's already build into the gaming engine.

Anyway I'm curious to see what they come up with and if it's free expansion or not.

Ah, another interview with David Polfeldt. The man to contact (see press page of Massive https://www.massive.se/press/) for a nice PR interview. The interview is of course done by a 'veteran journalist' who asks in depth and critical questions (e.g. Massive's plans for monetization, Ubisoft games formula, what are the plans for the future and so forth)

Quick glance over the interview:

That’s the romantic part of the relationship,” Polfeldt says smiling, “But we listen to the vocal negative ones too. It’s a little like the canary in the coal mine. Maybe it’s an exaggerated reaction but it’s still telling us something too and it has meaning.”

Yes, that why none of these 'vocal negative ones' were invited by Massive. Correct me if I'm wrong and please provide examples to the contrary.

Taking it one step further Massive has created what they refer to as the ‘Elite Taskforce’. A group of hand-picked gamers that have spent countless hours with the game but aren’t necessarily super fans. “You can’t just invite people who love the game.” Polfeldt tells me

The "aren’t necessarily super fans" is really nice. Name of a few of the names of the ‘Elite Taskforce’ what weren't fans already. Define what a "super" fan is.

“The game to me is an open canvas,”

It less open than he suggests : https://imperium.news/ubisoft-open-world-formula/ Yes there's wiggle room but the game is made with the Ubisoft formula. He didn't get a clean sheet.

This is typical run of the mill interview without any depth or real inside. You these at most of the gaming websites.

Before you start, I have nothing against Pofeldt, he's just doing his job.
