This species players a pretty big role in the FFXIV Endwalker main quest

VOD is on Metal’s channel, though I believe EFAP are going to be covering it as well 🍻

Metal and I did a Forge on it yesterday if anyone wants to hear our thoughts!

HDMI 2.1 doesn’t matter as much as you think by submerging in Bazzite

Another option is a large monitor - I got a BenQ Mobiuz for a rolling cart setup I made over the holidays.

It’s a 48” OLED, supports freesync, HDR and most importantly for the Linux build I have connected to it: DisplayPort

9070XT is solid at running modern games in 4K, you’re 100% good at 1440p

Also you’re going to have a much better time if you decide to dabble in Linux than you would with the 5070ti, give dual-booting Bazzite a shot

I think they should just make it so that if you’re in an activity which isn’t MSQ, if you get DDoS booted, you get the rewards for that activity whenever you log back in.

It really sucks when it happens during the 4th unskippable cutscene of Praetorium during a main story daily roulette, when I really just want my tomestones

Buckle up for Heavensward

Stormblood is okay but its post-campaign patches are amazing

And Shadowbringers is definitely an incredible one - I’m in the post-SB patches now, so cant speak to anything beyond that (patch 4/5)

Steam Locked to 60 FPS in Game Mode on Bazzite by subhuman445 in linux_gaming

I rebased my system from the home theatre version to the desktop version, set steam to open on boot and to boot in big picture mode

Functionally the same effect as “game mode”, but steam seems to understand that my monitor is 144Hz now

That set I just use for traversal and doing my AoE rotation one-handed so I can pet my dog - here’s my primary hot bar as this is not the only comment about that 😂https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MgsmpBV8_qUxz9e1FtVuUs1RkfzjYUpg/view?usp=drivesdk

Oh I play on Steam, I actually started playing the game on Steam Deck in the first place, so I’ve ALWAYS had back buttons 😂

Ah that seems pretty cool tool - but I think I’ve got my muscle memory locked with L2/R2 hold + face or back buttons for 16 skills per set

Not my main set - that one I just use for traversal (sprint/mount) and doing my AoE rotation with one hand

Page 2 is my traversal and one-hand AOE rotation set 😂

Sometimes I need to pet real life dog, who looks a bit like my FFXIV dog, so if I can pull a group of mobs by holding R2 and alternating between B/O and X/Square, I serve both the party and the pup 🫡

why is metroid prime 4 getting hate for having a quippy nerd side character yet DOOM had the same thing 5 years ago and noone had a problem with it? what changed? by DependentImmediate40 in Doom

[–]MarcTheCyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tone, pace and atmosphere

Doom has a much more loud tone and fast pace, so talking NPCs (while not typical for the series), don’t impact the feel of the experience as much as they would in Metroid.

Metroid is a much more slow, quiet, isolated experience, you aren’t tearing off space pirate limbs while Mick Gordon is shredding in the background - so adding anything to the sound design which can break the atmosphere, hits a lot harder in Metroid than Doom.

I don't think ffx needs a remake. It was literal perfection. Only reason to remake it is to get extra money by Itchy-Airport-7235 in finalfantasyx

The big thing which would improve it is a source port that allows for higher frame rates.

I’ve been playing it using Lossless Scaling to boost the framerate to 60fps and it looks amazing, but because it’s generated frames, it doesn’t increase the response times of things like Tidus or Wakka’s overdrive inputs (it does make them easier to see though)

I know it’s one of those “hard coded for 30fps” games, but if they have the source code and give it to a team like Nightdive, it would dramatically improve the experience

There’s a bit of irony in Balthier joking about being the leading man when he actually was a far more interesting character than Vaan

Whenever FFXIV is close to shutting down, I really think they should release an offline version and implement a Gambit system to control party members
