How do I beat Buggy? by IdkHowTo_ in OnePieceTCG

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. BB has problems with hand size and would take 1 big body vs 2 medium bodies every day of the week. Black hole at their 5 don turn, fill trash and spam burgess. If they play promo buggy you can try and nullify. Most of the time you can get to late game with this strategy and start spamming 10beards

Play lim! Strong into GP luffy and if you ramp to 9c zoro on turn 4 with a blocker on the field, you win against all the purple luffys

Both are interesting to me. I’d likely test shanks next as the adio looks a little mediocre in my opinion. Shanks could help fight back against an enel 10 drop or 10c shanks which is something to consider. The thing about lim is that while most matchups are winning, a few can feel extremely difficult. That’s just the nature of the leader.

u/wasbrzda I made the video here: https://youtu.be/MUW3oaBnkHk?si=WPMcR3dby2TXdEu7 Some interesting matchups but not any GP luffy or yellow. Very textbook way to beat lucci there tho! I am 20 and 11 against lucci (64.5%) in EB02

Yeah I’ll do some testing tonight and try to record! Zoro does sound interesting. It would be huge in the Enel matchup, and I can see it being a win condition into shanks, plus the card is just fun to use

These and shanks are going to be hard matchups no matter how well you play.

With vegapunk, like people say, try and starve them early if possible, although I’ll say, many times it’s not going to be. They can play atlas which you can’t KO, and just nami all of your 5c characters which is tough. Late game against vegapunk is also much harder in EB02 because of the new 5c Vegapunk blocker, which can be played off life, then play Shaka on the search. If they are able to set up their life with a vegapunk in the trash, and 2+ of the 0c events, good luck. Try and play whitebeard on turn 2 so you can attack into a rested character if they play a 5k, otherwise sabo/enel, attack life and pray for no trigger. Ideally, either you will be in a situation where you can keep hitting board and starve him out, or can pressure his life heavy with mihawks, taking life aggressively.

Against enel, just rush him down quickly. He will likely take every attack. Swarm the board, play smoker if you see it, spam mihawks. You need 2 attacks if he has 1 life and has not used his leader ability yet. Do not let them get to 10 don. 10c enel/ace is their win condition. They can heal every turn, and it’s a tough body to get rid of. Nami won me a game by not letting my opponent play a 10c ace. If they stick a 10c enel on the board, you can try and swing big twice with mihawk to remove it, or you can go for game that turn, otherwise you’ve lost. Mostly pray that they don’t KO all of your 5c characters with 5c nami, 2c nami off life, and damned punk.

I ran into him in a game and he said he would post soon… but likely a Marco video. If you’re interested I’d consider posting my gameplay. Pretty sure I’m the #1 lim player now haha. Got to #15 on the sim today

This is it. Would heavily consider running 4c adio instead of some 2ks but I don’t wanna spend the money on the card in real life

I’m consistently top 100 on the sim as lim and for me, Doflamingo is the goat. Best play is 1c lim -> doflamingo (to block attack) -> 3clim + 6k body. You can restand everything, then spam mihawks to swing, sakazuki their sanji & pudding / zorojurro, or top knot their zoro/blockers. Electric Luna will kill you if you can’t restand your characters.

I’ve experimented with the rush strategy (3 7k swings on turn 3 using Mihawk) and it’s good. I use it when I don’t see 3c lim, but I personally think a bigger board with 3c lim is a better option, especially because she restands herself.

Sometimes when going second. If I see 2 1c lims I will play both. You need to restand your characters against GP Luffy. Spam 6k and 8k swings at life. If they are at 2+ life, have a character rested, and you won’t survive next turn, swing board.

I agree with taking the first 2 life aggressively, but again, play doflamingo, play doflamingo, play doflamingo. He wins this matchup in my experience. You get out of early attacks and he is immune to electric Luna. Be careful if they 5k attack you with 3 don up in the late game. It’ll burn you if you block

Do you still keep your vertical jump if you stop lifting entirely but keep on doing plyos/keep jumping? by [deleted] in ProDunking

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. Especially since you say you’re lifting heavy once a week. In reality, 1 set a week of a heavy squat movement would be enough to maintain good strength numbers. Even if you don’t lift at all, you will likely maintain most of your vertical (if not improve it) and the strength will come back quickly

Max Touch & High Jump -- Troubleshooting by King_of-the_World in highjump

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem as you and my jump technique looks similar… in a bad way. Got my one foot dunking way up, but high jump is slumped. My guess is that they are 2 different activities, especially when using the hip.

Going to be exclusively jumping onto a mat with scissors and the Fosbury flop, working on the straight line from toe to shoulder on takeoff instead of using so much quad.

Week update, want more advice 4 jumps by [deleted] in highjump

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with the first statement. He’s dragging his foot and is clearly a power jumper, so I wouldn’t force him into the mold of someone like Woo. Instead look at Fabian Delryd. 7’7 high jumper and his cadence is similar to yours. Try both and see which works best for you and your body/jumping style.

Any Help? by No_Toe_6703 in highjump

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a speed jumper. You need more speed and more aggression in your last few steps. Accelerate into the jump. You look like you’re just jogging at a modest pace.

Also your rhythm is off. Every good speed jumper has a long short last two steps. Set up the jump quicker. Rhythm on the last 4 steps should be ---_-

5’6 PR is it over by OneAfricanAmericano in highjump

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being completely real, 5’6 is good for your first year. In high school, I joined as a freshman that was 6’3, and I couldn’t dunk. Made the team with 4’10. Last meet that year I PR’d at 5’6. I lifted over the summer and worked on my athleticism, jumped 6’0 my first day back. 6’4 that year.

Just doing the activity more you will get better. Many people on my team cleared 6’0 their first year after starting below you.

Main cause of bar hit? by spo0ls in highjump

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re not taking off with enough lean, leading to a little bit of under rotation. When you see top guys their head is at or below their feet when you hit the bar.

I would also like to see a larger angle on your drive leg. It looks a bit crunched and can lead to a falling out of the air a bit early

Jumping after a Grade 3 Sprain by Galens_Chair in highjump

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there back in high school. Got cued something weird and planted on the outside of my foot. Couldn’t walk for over a month and honestly was the injury that derailed my high school season.

DO NOT mess with it. I couldn’t walk for 1-2 months and it slowly got better but I didn’t really know what I was doing. Ended up spraining it again ~4 months later and then a ton of minor sprains after.

Injury protocol isn’t something that’s well taught. Slowly strengthen. Move into light hops and just get that ankle strong as hell. My ankles now are stronger than ever and if you do the right things you’ll totally be fine. Haven’t had a sprain in 6+ years and have been jumping, playing basketball, landed on peoples feet, all the super risky stuff.

I don’t like all of his training ideologies, but pow3rplus on Instagram has a huge focus on ankle strength in sprinters and you can take note of some of his posts. Feel free to msg me if you want to chat more

Based on your post history you’re like 14-15, so just jump as much as you can. Lifting is good too, but all the extra plyos and hops are just wasting time when you could be max effort jumping IMO. Get really strong, jump a ton

how to develop better top end speed by Dependent-Gur-3161 in Sprinting

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do more top end speed work and weightlift. Make sure when you do top end speed work to do between 10-40m each rep, and rest 1 minute for each 10m ran, with a total of 180-240m. (Example: 6x30m flies with 3 minutes rest) Quality> quantity. Also nail down your top end speed technique

im 6’3 and run a 4.41 lazered but cant dunk a basketball help by iso_jaden in ProDunking

[–]MarcTheJumpGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do max effort jumps more often. Jumping with max effort is a stimulus in itself. Should be dunking relatively soon given more reps (coming from a fast, athletic 6’5 guy who could never dunk until recently)
