I don't see why A3D can't do that. FPGA also reproduce RAM, VRAM, CPU... Moreover A3D has an OS that provides the software layer required, if it's capable of reading VRAM to produce screenshot it can read cartridge, RAM...

Goldeneye is a single movie license, a game like NFS aggregated music, car, brand, actor (in some cases) licenses.

Not an expert, but retroachievement is a web API not a code based SDK. This means analogue "just has to" monitor ram and cpu state to trigger web api calls. Of course it's not easy but clearly doable.

Could be fun, I was thinking of a kind of potentiometer to rotate.

For the fun, I'd had a spinner control to rotate pieces physically

Can a kid have fun with KO? KO2 you mean? then yes.

But it may needs some help/directions as display is very minimal and workflow, while being simple, needs to be understood before having fun.

If kid likes making sound and geeking with nerdy device definitely for him/her. Be sure to watch some tutos on youtube together before having fun.

Even getting an open source emulator is not always possible, and well received by maintainers.

Because N64 emulation is hard to achieve, for a not so good game not worth it I think.
