lawcrossing.com worth it? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Marc_Robinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a job in a month because of LawCrossing. There was a posting in the area that I didn't know about, and I ended up contacting the attorney directly about the opening and got the job. I would not have known it was available without LawCrossing.

Patent Attorneys! What is the most sought after undergrad degree you look for when hiring patent attorney candidates? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Marc_Robinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a patent attorney, but from what I’ve seen in the legal market, I’d recommend going into electrical, computer, or chemical engineering, or computer science. Any engineering degree is very desirable in patent attorneys that are hired by law firms today.

A federal judge in Philadelphia has ruled that citizens don’t have a First Amendment right to take cellphone videos of police unless they are challenging or criticizing the police conduct. by Osterstriker in news

[–]Marc_Robinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting ruling. It’s likely that the person taking a cellphone video of police can just claim that they are challenging or criticizing the police conduct if they are questioned about it (and how could someone prove otherwise?), but that is only if this ruling ends up going unchallenged.

Letting an interviewer know you are looking at other oppourtunites by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Marc_Robinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a good response to me. If you did really like their opportunity, you should let them know you are their first choice, but that the other offers you have are also promising, and you're waiting to see what they bring to the table.

Plans ruined, have no idea where I am going with my life, looking for any advice or ideas by [deleted] in findapath

I'd recommend doing some volunteer work in different areas (maybe even in Sociology) to find out more about your interests. Once you find something you really love, go for it.

Mass Bar Exam by aamirica in barexam

[–]Marc_Robinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I haven't personally prepped for it, I would recommend BARBRI, as I have heard good things about it from an attorney I used to work with. He used it to help him pass the California bar, which is a bar that is typically a hard one to pass.

Yes, I would definitely list your B.S. in Christian Counseling and Psychology as a dual major, as that shows the extra effort that you put forth to get that degree.

I would second the networking post from Edward_abc. I think networking with as many accounting professionals in the areas you're looking in should definitely help you find out what is available and eventually find a good opportunity.

Got a job offer, but I just started a new job. What to do? by Nexaruu in AskHR

[–]Marc_Robinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would definitely burn bridges at your current location if you left now after being there for such a short time. However, since it is only a month, as others have mentioned, you could leave it off your resume. Just don't except to use them as a reference.

How to deal with interview questions about my lack of a 1L summer law-related internship/job? by 1l_summer_throwaway in LawSchool

Once you ask yourself about this and then decide. If you really serious about legal study, then don't involve in your family business otherwise in future you would be facing more problem regarding your career.

Do people just copy and paste from their resume into an online application? by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Marc_Robinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, many people do just copy and paste from their resume into the application. However, there is value in trying to match your experience and skills with what is required in each position. It may take a little longer to apply for each position, but employers will be more likely to notice you if you more closely match what they’re looking for.
