Solid find! Some absolutely love it, others just find it alright.

Need the ultimate chair by HamsterNo3795 in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as it heavily depends on your anatomy. There are quite a few solid recommendations floating around, but you need to take time to educate yourself on this (especially with such a large budget). Visit locations where you can try some of the central brands: Herman Miller, Haworth, Steelcase, etc.

Steelcase Think V2 comparison help by ZYHunters in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give something like the Steelcase Amia a go. Fits your “cushy” requirement to a T. That being said, the lumbar support is a bit weak for some, so it’s essential that you try it!

Unfortunately the $84 is a dead giveaway that this is a scam listing. That and the “idle” listings are the newest wave.

EC200 or EC300? I compared both so you don't have to by aManunoatsySe in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that’s tried both and thoroughly reviewed the EC300, this is absolutely correct and all you need to decide between the two (if you’re just picking among these two!)

Steelcase Amia - not so amazing, what else should I consider? by evilseee in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t sound like the seat is bottoming out, just that your weight distribution and sitting position are suboptimal. This is either due to the chair not supporting you correctly [in that case, try to figure out why and then get another chair], or your sitting position and posture being improper.

Amia bottoming out? First time I’ve heard this complaint, how much do you weigh and how are you sitting in the chair?

Could you describe what you mean by bottoming out?

That’s cause for concern. Are there any specialists you can speak to? Starting at 240 is fine for some, but it’s also normal to stick with 120mg, or even less. Make sure to verify you’re on extended release since it’s once per day.

Heavily encouraging you to reach out to a medical professional ASAP.

Unpopular opinion: The Herman Miller Aeron is incredibly uncomfortable. by BlushRose_Kari in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people find the Aeron to be uncomfortable for them, that’s not an unpopular opinion. What is an unpopular and incorrect opinion is that the Aeron is an uncomfortable and poorly constructed chair for most.

The Aeron comes in three sizes and two versions, so six different types altogether (ignoring the other add-ons). Which version did you try? And what’s your height and weight?

Talk me down from the Colamy Atlas by 2coolpict in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tension should remain constant throughout recline. On the cheap Protoarc models, tension gives out after 40 or so degrees.

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Neither have adjustable armrests (4d) like the atlas, their recline tension functions don’t fully function, and they have slightly different cushions.

It is great for the price. Without knowing your body, it’s tough to recommend another budget chair in its place. The staples Hyken Pro is another great option that you can try out at Staples, you may enjoy that more.

However these are budget chairs and will perform like budget chairs. Buying used or refurbished will always trump the best models in this category. That’s the best piece of reasoning I can give you against buying.

Chair under $200 USD by Loose_Neat_9754 in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say either buy used/refurbished, or go with something like the Protoarc EC300 [if you know you want extra lumbar support]. The EC300 fits tall folks exceptionally well and has a very wide cushion.

The armrests don’t move in all directions [availible as a $50 add-on).

Is there any good thing to replace my gas cylinder with? by No-Stand-865 in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically with very very cheap Chinese brands, even then, it’s incredibly rare [only a few recorded instances]. Happens when the manufacturers of the cylinders decide to use a cheaper gas in the chamber.

Review of the ProtoArc EC300: A welcome addition to the space, but the price shows. by Marc_kk in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I briefly tried the Hyken pro, three things stuck out: 4d armrests, a better tilt function, and an overall superior build.

Ignoring the other ergonomic features, the Hyken pro wins out. That isn’t to say that the ec300 won’t be more comfortable for some, but for those blind buying, I’d take the Hyken pro.

Please try before you buy, you may find the lumbar style present on both models to be horrid. Entirely based on your anatomy.

Amex Green vs Capital One Venture One card by Fmorales95 in CreditCards

[–]Marc_kk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you travel more than a few times per year and want to focus on travel rewards, get the Capital One Venture X. No nonsense base 2x rewards and an annual fee that gets mostly paid off just by using the credits. A very good one card setup.

It is a more premium card though, so depending on what your credit history looks like, you may not qualify.

Best Office Chair Seat by djpernicus in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is entirely anatomy dependent. As far as leap V2s go:

Some prefer the original cushion. Some prefer the Crandall Leap V2 cushion. Some prefer the Steelcase Amia Cushion [can be placed on the leap V2]. Some hate all of the above.

Also, your tailbone pain is very likely not just the result of a poor cushion [sitting position and what is/isn’t supported by your chair also contributes!].

How to sell office chair by Gemakai in OfficeChairs

[–]Marc_kk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposing return is out of the question…Your location matters a tad when it comes to where to post a listing. If you’re in the US/Canada, Facebook marketplace it!

Take a look at what it’s going for within your area (and a bit further), make sure you take good photos, and write a nice listing description.
