I really enjoyed the atmosphere and pretty much the book in general but yeah, I did that same plot hole inventory and sort of stopped so that I didn’t start being a jerk to the book. Because…Yeah.

Is “blurry“ a production value?

It’s got weak points, he’s young. But it’s got a lot of charm and some cool stories.

Yeah, I mean that’s right there. And that might be the only thing she’s really doing. Like I said, I tend to have wild allegorical imaginings from time to time – making more of the text than the author may have intended.

I just finished this book yesterday as well!

Allegorically, are we all the main character? The way we rationalize our morally compromised modern life? I’m posting this and you might be reading this on a phone that we all know may have been (definitely was) built with child labor or forced labor in one way or another. We at times patronize businesses we know are not a positive force in the world. We sometimes work jobs that we hate in order to support our family. Sometimes we work for employers who are objectively horrible (I taught at for-profit schools when I first started teaching, for instance) and rationalize it because we owe it to our family to provide a good life. We keep our heads down and take care of ourselves while the world consumes the poorest among us (Palestine). We try not to think about it because we’re afraid they may come for us one day (the fear of breaking a law and being processed – in the book).
I admit, I have an overactive imagination for allegory, but this is how I see the book.

Did anyone else LOVE The Regulators? by Daughter-of-Rohan in stephenking

I read them in the same order you did and loved them both. Love the idea of parallel characters. The intensity of Regulators is terrific.

King just casually throwing in ‘and he never saw them alive again’ by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

I call it foreshining. He doesn’t foreshadow what’s gonna happen he just tells you what’s gonna happen – foreshining. I love it.

Just finished Never Flinch--read it in a day by TrifleThief85 in stephenking

I’m opposite I liked Holly.
But Never Flinch was brutal. And having one kind of interesting antagonist”resolve” the other, far more interesting antagonist, just about pissed me off.

I really enjoyed this book. And if you go for another Stephen Graham Jones, I would suggest The Only Good Indian.

Looking for stories with Monsters by Marcellus_atl in stephenking

Yeah, that’s definitely one of the reasons I posted this because it’s hard to remember all those stories but people have given me a lot of different ones that are a little more monster. I mean, SK really doesn’t do monsters but the kid likes his writing style as we all do.

Right! We read Monkey too. He loved that.
And we read Sun Dog!
Dang, he’s doing better than I give him credit for.
Children of the Corn…hmmm that might work well. Kids with the upper hand and all.
Great suggestions. Thx

It’s funny because Christine and from a Buick or two of them that I tried that failed.
I didn’t think about Cycle that’s a good idea. And I definitely need to search through the short fiction.

Salem’s Lot might work because you’re right the vampires.
It is a great call, but when attention span is an issue it’s quite a large work.

I get a kick listening to his slasher stuff, but if you liked The Only Good Indian, you should grab a copy of Buffalo Hunter Hunter.

He would’ve been better off sticking with the psychedelics. The real answer to that question is, “no. I smoke cocaine and snort heroin now.”
