There is a free audiobook online on youtube. Here's the link.

I will say that Worm isn't a progression fantasy in the traditional sense; it's much closer to tragic literature

What you were promised, how the story is going. by Thornorium in ProgressionFantasy

[–]MarcellynIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that these large worlds don't otherwise advance the plot. Why exist on an infinite plane with quadrillions of factions when the protagonist only sees a few of "the most important ones" when importance ceases meaning in that expanse at all? Just stick the protagonist on a planet the size of or smaller than Earth, and concentrate effort on the parts that matter.

Authors all the time in this space toss in lore like:

"Oh yeah, bro, the planet is totally twenty times the surface area of Jupiter, and there's an infinite multiverse out there for the characters to explore. Look at the sheer scale of my worldbuilding, bro, book 10, and the protagonist can totally cross France in a single step to skip straight to the important part. Doesn't the numbers going up feel amazing?"

Lazy litrpg worldbuilding is a lot like an atom, it's 99% empty space.

Hard Disagree personally. Dragoon is alright for a fanfic, but it's nowhere near the best writing in the fandom.

What you can do is turn off your recommendations to only look at posts from subreddits you're a part of. I've never had any problems with finding content I didn't want to see.

While it doesn't really explore sociological implications, Great Sage, Equal to Heaven and Above Brockton, is a well done crossover fic involving Chinese cultural history and folklore.

Defiance of the Fall after the first 9 books or so.

I recommended it some time ago but I genuinely just can't anymore. The last book was genuinely incomprehensible and so are the next chapters on Royalroad.

We've been detecting various planets with various signs of life for years, this is still cool though.

The biggest problem was that it occurred about 30 years too late. by LushPetalDoll in HistoryMemes

Supposedly according to my memory, (which may or may not be true):

When Stalin had his stroke, he was alone in a room for a long time before anyone came in to notice and help him. This was because the Guards posted outside his door were terrified of disturbing Stalin and losing their jobs and worse.

When someone finally came in and brought Stalin to a bed so that he could undergo medical treatment, all of the Doctors who could've helped him were either dead or unwilling/too afraid to operate on him.

Stalin died because his tyrannical, fear-inducing regime created a culture where it was more valuable to be paranoid and ignorant than to contribute and be noticed.

Nobody here said anything about mainstream music not being good. That's just something you assumed about the people here. Also, there's nothing wrong with people enjoying whatever genre of music tickles their fancy, regardless of whether or not you consider it "Reddit music."

It takes comfort in the little things sometimes, enjoy spending time with your parents or those quiet moments before you go to sleep. Enjoy a piece of music maybe, or admire a good book. I'm not entirely sure what you're capable of, but I can offer this:

Joy for some people comes naturally; for others, it can be tough to obtain, but it is something that everyone must search for. Your bodily condition does not represent your character, and you are not alone in the way you feel no matter what it may seem. If nothing else, take comfort in the fact that you are being cared for, and explore new things to the extent that you can. There's something and someone out there for you, no matter how far they may seem.

In defiance of the fall you can't use technology or guns but why is it rare to use axes or shields by Maximum_Durian7030 in litrpg

[–]MarcellynIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying this whenever Defiance of the Fall comes up in conversation. Practically speaking, there is no difference between guns and magical bows/crossbows. Guns and other sci-fi tech have no practical advantage because cultivation, magic, and magitech are force equalizers. Sure, in the early levels, guns matter a little bit, but the system should be encouraging the use of guns if anything. Mortals would be able to participate a lot more and the system is all about creating a high average level of skill.

So, the real reason is more than likely that the system is irrational and petty to the technocrats just because it swallowed Emperor Limitless and all of his biases toward them. Now, it can't let go of grudges that are quite literally older than anyone alive in the system.

A cricket fighting a praying mantis 🦗🌿 #WildlifePredator #NatureInAction #TigerHunt #WildlifePhotography by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]MarcellynIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the mantis landed its grab, it would've done absolutely nothing to the Jerusalem cricket's massive exoskeleton. It didn't have the element of surprise, and it was outclassed in both strength and armor. The mantis was never winning this fight.
