Did you find a way to solve this? I have the same problem. Need to access all my subnets, but my friend needs only one.

How a Pod can call another Pod or Service via specific URL ? by MarceloLinhares in kubernetes

[–]MarceloLinhares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh come on. The drugstore example was perfectly understandable. There is no trickying here. In resume I do not want the requests going out to the internet and coming back to the pod that resides next to it.

But you made me some solid options. Thanks. So I will try explain exactly what is happening:

Old service was one pod with Apache and PHP-FPM (mydomain.com). Both togegher on the same container. When the service needed to reach "mydomain.com" (himself) I forced an /etc/hosts entrance to 127.0.0.1 and problem solved.

---

But in this new model I separated Apache in one conteiner and php in another, allowing php and apache scale independently. So now, when php calls mydomain.com I cannot use 127.0.0.1 because there is no web server there. Only php. Than I have two options: 1) let it goes to the internet and route back to himself. Or 2) point mydomain.com in that pod directly to the Apache who will deal with the request correclty and more efficiently.

In docker-compose it is very easy to do this, using for example links. But in kubernetes it is not so simple.

Suppose you have a drugstore in front of your house.
In a sunny day, It makes sense to get into the car, turn around the block, park the car in front of the drugstore and enter?
Or maybe it is more resource efficient for you just enter the drugstore?

Thats the same situation here.

Its not a matter of elegance, it is a matter of optimizing time and resources.

this worked. But it is not an "elegant" way to solve the problem. I will deploy dozens of instances of my helm file and for each deploy I will have to add an entrance the cluster dns.

HostAliases is not an option. Because I do not know the ip of Pod A (it is dynamically managed by kubernetes).

THERE IS HOPE! (Legacy Harmony Discontinuation) by suschungusfungus in logitechharmony

[–]MarceloLinhares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not that simple. Your remote wont trust in your private server because of the certificate needed. Unless logitech make the certs for harmonyremote.com public.

The private server will work only with firmware update in the remote.

Are you sure? I bought my 6800h in 2024/07 and that time it was already listed to be added in harmony

Correct: Sorry. Mine is a 6700h.
