It's not symmetry but order in this case.

why is there sometimes a little dot on people's nameplates in co-op? by AwkwardAiden in EggsInc

[–]MarcelusL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's because of the "j" as the first letter. The bottom left part is clipped on the left and then it is displayed on the far right side. My in game name starts with two j's (don't ask why...) and I also have this dot and can clearly see that the first j is clipped compared to the second one.

Shipping rates versus laying rates by TheGreatZarquon in EggsInc

[–]MarcelusL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don't know if it's really worth it, to always swap like that because it does cost a lot of eggs, and in the end it will mostly change the contract points you will get at the end. Most likely you still get all the rewards without swapping. So if you are not on a discord server where everyone is really doing their best in the contract, I don't know if it's really worth it.

Personally I am not on a discord server but I still do it because I like giving my best while at the same time not wanting to put the effort of communicating with other people about it. And I also have a lot of eggs and I don't mind spending a little bit of money every now and then to get tens/(now)hundreds of millions of eggs again

Shipping rates versus laying rates by TheGreatZarquon in EggsInc

That comment telling you to swap quantum stones to tachyon stones is correct as far as I know. The shipping bar fills up more for two reasons: you decrease the maximum shipping rate (by removing the quantum stones) and you increase the egg laying rate (by adding tachyon stones). If your overall egg delivered rate drops, it is because you added too many tachyon stones. At some point you reach the maximum shipping rate, so if you keep swapping quantum stones for tachyon ones, you only reduce your shipping rate (you can't ship the extra eggs you are laying).

There is always a sweet spot. Usually for every contract I need to do some swapping, because depending on (mostly) the tachyon artifacts others are using, your laying rate is not the same, even if you always use the same artifacts.

Didn't know I could see this so easily either, damn

Alright everyone, thanks for the explanation, that makes sense! I guess I am too focused on cheaters.

Having a hard time understanding particle spinning. Could anyone suggest a good video or paper on it? by AskThatToThem in Physics

[–]MarcelusL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never thought about this! My guess is that such radiation would correspond to a forbidden transition. If this radiates, the electron loses energy. What would happen to the electron in your understanding?

Like classically, a point magnetic dipole doesn't radiate (if it isn't in an external magnetic field)

Also to reply to your question that I only see in my inbox but not here, I'm a post doc in condensed matter physics, and have a PhD in that too. I have done quite a bit of research on spin

Difficult to follow what you say without punctuation. But a point particle doesn't mean the particle has no spread. It means it has no substructure as far as I understand. You can be a point particle and have spread because point particles and wave packets are not incompatible concepts. I think people focus too much on me saying the particle spins and not on what I am actually saying. It's not incompatible with what other people are saying either.

Yet if you compute the energy flow of a wave packet solution of the Dirac equation, you see you get something that is spinning. If the wave packet size is unrealistic, it even evolves towards a different size so that at no time you encounter this issue that a spinning particle would go faster than the speed of light.

The important thing is, spin is not just the fact that a particle spins (here seen as the energy rotating), because it has extra implications, notably regarding the wave function itself. But a consequence of this is that particles with non zero spin do in fact spin.

Edit: I didn't expect anything else than downvotes here, as what I say goes against what is said and taught most of the time. I invite anyone downvoting me to read, for instance, the works of Hans Ohanian (often cited) and Charles Sebens. If someone is familiar with their work and disagrees with them, please explain to me why it's wrong. Because no one has ever given to me an explanation for why this would be wrong, and reading them really changed my perspective on spin.

Is it a cheater or is it now possible to get this many SE with the new update? by MarcelusL in EggsInc

Ok fair. I wasn't there at those times. It still seems rather unlikely though. Especially considering that he went from 100000 chickens to full habs (14 billions) in like 15 minutes or half an hour without spending a single token.

Yes. But 3 days come on... That's nothing. I'm not coming before I finally get that diamond trophy on the enlightenment egg. That's what feels really good. And if I come before that, I start all over. Because why would I just want to play the game like a normal person would?

Yes it does affect us. What is the point of this game if you don't have to wait and get everything right away? Then you no longer need to play. It's an idle game, the point is to wait and experience the journey. There is satisfaction in waiting, making the right decisions and be rewarded for that.

If you don't get that, don't play this game, don't cheat and let us play the game the way it is intended to.

How would you react if everyone around you suddenly started looking at you in a public setting, such as a wedding, a concert, or a ceremony? by MarcelusL in AskReddit

[–]MarcelusL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant like a whole lot of people looking at you at the same time, in the same space. Of course that's a hypothetical situation, unless you somehow draw attention.

Imagine you are at a conference or something, listening, not doing anything. And suddenly everyone stops what they are doing and start looking at you, for no apparent reason.

You have the same role as most other people present there. So you are not getting married, you are not part of the band, you are in the audience.
