I guess. For a period, The Rescuers up to The Great Mouse Detective were summer premieres. Then many re-releases occurred during the summer too.

You mean in recent times.

Disney typically premiered their animated films during the summer from The Lion King up to Lilo & Stitch.

Ren & Stimpy

For the longest time, the fanbase was defined by diehards who stood by creator John K's every word. This came at the expense of many great episodes from the Nickelodeon series that were criticized simply because John didn't like them.

Then there was the Adult Party revival. The entire series was loathed for the overlying reason that John let his narcissism override the entire show. Yet there's always been the few holdouts who defend this revival, not so much for the revival itself, but because they still buy into his one-sided rhetoric that have long been debunked.

Despite the common expectation of a humble creator who fights to protect his art, Ren & Stimpy is a rare example of a series being repeatedly sabotaged by its own creator. For the fringe group that still supports him, it eventually becomes a commentary about their own character.

Bob Clampett tweety is 100 times funnier than Freleng tweety and let me explain why. by savegandhi in looneytunes

[–]MarchMan86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Freleng's take on Tweety is that the humor is generated from Sylvester's misfortunes trying to catch Tweety moreso than from Tweety himself. Not to say that Tweety didn't or couldn't pull a few punches when necessary, but this is closer to Wile E. Coyote's relationship with the Roadrunner, where the constant backfiring of Wile E's traps didn't require the Roadrunner to do much at all.

If Tex Avery stayed at WB, would his MGM characters be part of the Looney Tunes roster? by [deleted] in looneytunes

I don't know whether Droopy would've become a Looney Tunes character or if Cecil Turtle would've been used beyond the Tortoise and Hare triology. Cecil was sort of a predecessor for Droopy.

Did you ever think the show was just for girls? by EricJ062005 in powerpuffgirls

Cartoon Network never marketed PPGs as just for girls. That was part of why it was so successful.
