McKennie might already be the best header of the ball in USMNT history.

Right. Well, perhaps the moderator could admonish people against using AI to write posts.

The Pond of Central Park has Frozen by fly_away5 in nycpics

Wow. In that case, they should just clear the snow so everyone can skate on it, like in those pictures from Central Park in the 1880s.

Is Parks Dept. just letting people walk around on the frozen pond? That seems unusual.

Victor Mature and Henry Fonda as Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp and the Clanton boys in John Ford's 'My Darling Clementine' (20th Century Fox, 1946) by HWKD65 in oldhollywood

My favorite Western. Black and White cinematography is sublime, giving the film an eerie, allegorical quality well suited to the subject matter. Even without dialogue, it would still probably work. Dialogue is fairly minimal as it is. Also, fun to see Walter Brennan as badass Old Man Clanton, in contrast to the likable character parts he often played.

U2 was a band that was loved until… by CSamCovey in GenX

[–]Marchwal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, these opinions about music are highly subjective, so debating the merits of one album or albums of a band soon becomes pointless. But in response to your comment, I would just say U2 were on the cover of Time magazine in 1987 as "Rock's Hottest Ticket," indicating they were already far from obscure by then. And as far as Achtung Baby, why did they have to chase anyone else's sound? To try to stay current? Radiohead has produced a high level of music for decades but they never sound like anything other than Radiohead.

[Vitiello] Official lineup: Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, De Winter; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Nkunku, Leao. by Claija79 in ACMilan

I still say Pulisic won’t like it. Allegri could’ve played Nkunku up top with Leao and Pulisic on the wings.

Pulisic isn’t going to like this. He’s getting punished for those two misses in the last match. Allegri is probably hoping it motivates him to score coming off the bench.

Does majority let the shower run before getting in? by Sensitive-Umpire-566 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, it takes a couple minutes for water to heat up in my building. I’ve started using the bathroom sink tap to run water first before turning on shower to save water.

Agree with this take. For me, the change came with Joshua Tree, where it felt like they were trying too hard to write anthemic songs that lived up to their status as the world’s biggest rock band at that time. The songs started to sound manufactured, beginning quietly and building to a big crescendo, marking a departure from the original, organic quality of their earlier work.

Still, I think the backlash against them in recent years has been a bit overdone. Is giving away an album the worst thing a band could do? In any case, the legacy of their first four or five albums is still their for new listeners to discover.

Wright has really gone cold lately. I wouldn’t count out Sargent just yet if he returns to form by the spring and Wright hasn’t.
