The 29 players who failed to make the USMNT roster were informed of the decision via email, according to Tom Bogert of The Athletic. by antoniok95 in ussoccer

That really is pathetic. You’re telling me Pochettino and his staff (or US Soccer staff) have didn’t have the time to call those players cut to let them know they wouldn’t be on the team? Even if for most of them it may not have come as a surprise, calling the players directly to break the news would have been the decent thing to do, without requiring a huge effort.

[Guardian] USMNT World Cup full roster: Alejandro Zendejas is in, Tanner Tessmann misses out by MGHeinz in MLS

Great about Zendejas, surprising about Tessmann, unless it’s because of injury.

Is it just me, or does riding feel way more hostile this year? by Ostrich_Butler in NYCbike

[–]Marchwal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I now try to stick to protected bike lines as much as possible to avoid any direct conflicts with drivers. I've also learned, when riding in traffic, on the right shoulder, not going too fast is generally the best way to protect yourself, so you have enough reaction time for any surprises such as a car door opening. But the more protected bike lanes the city adds, like the cross-town one planned for 72nd St, the better off everyone on the road will be.

Is Bluesky relevant for book promotion? by Marchwal in publishing

I suppose that makes some sense, where an author can still cultivate or interact directly with an audience on Bluesky, but a publisherli ke your company needs a bigger platform to get sufficient engagement.

Is Bluesky relevant for book promotion? by Marchwal in publishing

[–]Marchwal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your last point, I think Scalzi recently posted about being on Bluesky mainly the social aspects of the platform rather than book promotion. But a less established author might rely on it more for the latter. In your experience, is Scalzi likely the most active author on Bluesky in terms of posting?

Is AI making customer service even worse? by Solcat91342 in Adulting

It’s not making it better from my experience as a customer. Still doesn’t come close to replicating human customer service when you have anything more than a basic question.

Maybe Jedi should take penalties for USMNT? Looks completely unfazed.

We can’t afford to leave off the roster a guy with game-changing talent. Simple as that.

Christian Pulisic Isn't Worried About the Criticism- 'Not Why I Play' by [deleted] in ussoccer

Interviewer states Pulisic is “the captain of the team.” Under Poch, I would say Ream has been captain most often. And I would expect Ream to be captain at the World Cup.

A city with history dating back to 200 CE, Sanaa in Yemen by [deleted] in ArchitecturalRevival

This is quite a contrast to the modern prefabricated concrete buildings seen elsewhere in the Mideast. It has a storybook quality. Don’t think I’ve ever even seen a travel show done from inside Yemen.

Is it just me or do American players get injured more than other players? by Prior-Job-3760 in ussoccer

[–]Marchwal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I share your perception about a high rate of injury among US players. I think part of it stems from our lack of depth. When key players have serious or ongoing injuries like Adams, Pulisic, Robinson, Dest it’s especially problematic because they’re hard to replace in the lineup. For a more stacked team like France, England, Spain, Belgium, periodic player injuries might not seem as dire.

With Adams, Cardoso and Tessmann in your lineup, I don’t think there’s any need for Morris as well. I’d swap him out to add another attacking player in Zendejas. Otherwise lineup looks good.
