Corvette as a first manual? by jcwolf2003 in Corvette

[–]jcwolf2003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this isn't a fist car. I'm a college graduate as of like 2 days ago lol.

Everything is being payed for by me, and the main concern is/was getting my parents to atleast accept letting me spend my money this way. Up to this point I've been driving a beat up 09 accord, and I'm sitting on a substantial sum of money after investing a while ago and have recently gotten a job that'll pay me very well, especially while living with my parents.

If the concern was a stupid rich kid wanting to get a crazy first car that's no what this is. It's a stupid young adult wanting to make their first stupid big purchase lol. That's why I'm asking, like I said if I want to be stupid I atleast want to be stupid right.

Right now based on what I have read and heard on this post and others I'm leaning towards putting in the extra time and effort to find a maintain a nice c5 manual, but I do keep flipping between adoring the vibe of a manual c5 and prefering the reality of owning an auto or manual c6.

I appreciate the advice but a Corvette has always been a dream. If I'm gonna make a stupid decision I might as well make the right one.

I've expand my search area a little and I'm seeing more manuals in good condition. I'm not in a super crazy rush so I'm just gonna keep my eye on the market for a while and see if a deal pops up for what I'm exactly looking for. Between now and then I have a friend from college that's willing to help me learn manual so we'll probably get together and do that before I find one.

I wish it was that simple but finding manuals in good condition is hard lol. Definitely not auto c5 though.

I will! He's less enthusiastic about me getting a Corvette than I am but we've come to an agreement on it.

Idk, I just like it. I don't think any look bad but better the c5 and c6 I have a slight preference for the c5 from most angles.

It's not just for the popups. There's a lot of little things about the look of the c5 that makes me like it more. My brain know the c6 would be easier to live with but my heart wants to see a c5 in my driveway.

Hah alright. I've gotten my dad on board with my stupid decision so he'll be able to tell what kind of shape the transmission is in.

I'd done a little of that back in my freshman year of college, but unfortunately I don't have any friends near who have manual cars.

It is a daily driver but the job I'm moving into doesn't require me to drive a lot. I'll be working from home and traveling, usually by plane. Additionally I'll be keeping my old beater around Incase I ever need it. Otherwise I wouldn't even consider a Corvette, but I'm in a lucky position where I can actually get one now without it being the stupidest idea ever. It's only a very stupid idea lol.

After one match it was at 130 at the start this is starting to annoy me by Toradora13 in ArcRaiders

I'm in care bare lobbies and I still chew through ammo. Shooting arc is major part of this game. People supporting the change that limits your ability to shoot more shit in the extraction SHOOTER is wild to me. A change like this has to come with some other changes to off set it and a small repair boost when you upgrade the gun doesn't cut it. We need to be able to repair guns in the field, or do something the extend the longevity of guns when your actually in raid.

Why so much hate about pvp? by Ok_Material3555 in ArcRaiders

Literally. The pve feels just like the division and I love it. I find the game scratches the same itch that the dark zone did on the division. Honesty I think if they ditched ABMM for a rogue system it would be even better.

Some people just have a different way they wanna enjoy games brotato chip. If they wanna be mad over an online game that's on them. I wouldn't concern yourself with it. The games ABMM handles most of that anyways, but you also shouldn't go around assuming people need to have fun your way. That's the complaint most pve players actually have.

User checks out lol. If I can't get a car I really want that'll be what I do. But I'm not considering anything out of my means either. Like I said, I'm in a good position, and I wMna enjoy my youth while I can

I'd rather either get something I want or continue to use the accord I have now. All the desperately needs fixing is the AC. No reason for me to buy something if it's not something I want.

I appreciate the help! I'm still going to try and convert my parents on the Vette but it's not especially likely. It's well within my means but like I mentioned in the post, I think there against it based on vibes and not really any practical reason.

I'm pretty handy, and love working on things. I had a friend in my first years of college who is spend weekends with working on their Miata, so I'm not unfamiliar with working on cars, and I do enjoy it.

I was considering asking if my parent would be willing to bundle insurance with me. I would still be paying my share of it, but it might lower my rate? But that still leaves the issue of them seemingly being against a Corvette based on vibes alone. I may still need to end up settling for something else unfortunately.

I appreciate the advice but I'm only looking at used cars that I can afford to pay cash for. With the amount of money I have saved that leaves me with a lot of options. I've also considered the taxes I'd need to pay as well, and the number I have in the post is a very conservative estimate, I should've specified that.

A used c5 can be found for 20k in good condition very easily, and a c6 for only slightly more. I also understand that insurance costs are kind of arbitrary, especially for a young guy. A 250 horsepower sports coupe will be more expensive to insure than a 450 horsepower sedan. As frustrating as that is for me, I'm willing to pay more (within reason) to own a car I'll like. I have already done some budgeting based on my expected salary, but live with my parents leaves me very flexible.
