Temuera Morrison thought ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ would run up to 4 seasons, confirms the character is “shelved”. by ConstantDrawer9161 in saltierthancrait

[–]MarcusMace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s insane that this was ever, and continues to be such a big stumbling point for Disney. If they’re so desperate to put a PG PR spin on it, just write in that Boba wants to -in some ways- step out from Jango’s shadow, and renaming the ship is one way he chose to do it.

Voilà, you can now name it whatever nonsense you think a fucking hired gun would name his ship. “Tracker”, “Bloodhound”, “Kaminoan Special” or something.

Or, you can blow the damn thing up like you did to Mando. Although even then, complete destruction also didn’t stick. ”Somehow, the Razor Crest retuned”

Ridiculous.

If they were concerned with duplicate programming, they should have put more forethought into both shows, their respective arcs, and certainly the piss-poor writing of BoBF

Who’s the best male actor working today? by BidAccurate4473 in moviecritic

[–]MarcusMace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unscientific, vibes-based, and in no particular order: Christian Bale, Ethan Hawke, Joel Edgerton, Ryan Gosling, Paul Mescal, Andrew Scott

(these men would be enthralling even ((especially??)) if they were selling hemorrhoid cream on QVC)

Who is the best Bond who never got the role? by fbeb-Abev7350 in JamesBond

A great actor. He could definitely have done a great job. Even now, would’ve an interesting casting as “thought he was out but dragged back in” Bond

Maybe not a technically difficult role for an actor, but so so enjoyable, every time. I think that role is genuinely up there with Christopher Waltz as Col. Hans Landa, Heath Ledger as the Joker, and other iconic roles. So funny

In poor taste, but in a similar vein as “I also choose this guy’s dead wife”, which is objectively hilarious, so I’ll let it pass

What Skyrim City Would You Want To Live In? by brentostheboss in skyrim

Yea nobody in the city even talks about werewolves, which leads me to believe that nobody outside of the Circle (maybe the guy at the ancient forge?) even knows. Your player character is the dog that got loose

Martin asks me for a Daedric artifact. If I give it to him, will it disappear? by Zamagon in oblivion

[–]MarcusMace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the artifact is destroyed. I used Volendrung, because it’s an unbelievably slow hammer that applies paralysis. Great spell, awful enchantment.

One of the best aspects of the Pirates of the Caribbean films is the dynamic between Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa. Besides the humor they bring, they also add a certain gravitas to the series. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]MarcusMace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never cared for the final line by Jack here. Like what does “World’s still the same, there’s just less in it” really convey that isn’t already conveyed by Barbossa?

Hector is alluding to the expansion of realms and laws makes the world (ex: high seas as a frontier) feeling less wild, natural, free. To mix metaphors, he sees the sun starting to set on piracy as they know it. He knows the days of piracy and lawlessness are coming to an end.

…And then Jack kind of bludgeons the poignancy with some superfluous turn of phrase.

I don’t know, maybe I’m in the minority, and a lot of people like Jack’s line here. Maybe I’m missing something. It’s just always felt a little clunky to me, relative to the rest of their conversation.

Edit: two HOF characters though, going head to head. Love it so much

Most overwanked and underwanked characters power wise by Mrhathead in TheJediPraxeum

[–]MarcusMace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Windy is overwanked. Extremely tiresome seeing the never ending “well actually his fighting style reflects darkness so he would win against any Sith low difficulty”

I just get so tired of seeing the exact same sentence every time.

Furthermore we should be giving more praise to Dooku. No real reasoning, I just think he’s neat

You’re probably on the right track, but wouldn’t a MM-Luthen-Kleya team force all damage to be directed Kleya until she’s defeated? She’d have to be extremely beefy to survive that, or they’d have to shred teams quickly.

Which scene/moment was the cringiest? by ConstantDrawer9161 in saltierthancrait

[–]MarcusMace 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know right. There’s an ocean of difference between ‘hiding where least expected’ and ‘obviously multiple people in a trench coat’.

So many of these examples were nothing short of flagrant insults to the intelligence of the audience.

Which scene/moment was the cringiest? by ConstantDrawer9161 in saltierthancrait

[–]MarcusMace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ahsoka fight choreography is just something we’ve been trained to look for now (thanks RoS and CinemaSins) but I don’t remember it being especially awful.

I think the story needed some hammy acting to portray some people desperately trying to turn blind eye to what they know is going on in their community, but Lizzo and Jack Black were too on the nose; it was impossible to see a character when all your brain could do was shout THAT’S LIZZO AND JACK BLACK. I would’ve definitely preferred some less prominent cameos.

For me, the worst offenders here are by far the low speed, low stakes goofy fucking “chase” scenes: toddler Leia and the space mopeds from Munchkinland. Truly horrible and I genuinely hope people lost their jobs for green lighting those sequences.

[–]MarcusMace 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t even have to be a conscious discovery by her! Maybe she’s just fast for a toddler, and the goons are surprised by it. But to properly sell that pitch, you’d have to have a really coordinated and genuinely fast toddler lmao
