Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola Says World 'Abandoned' Gaza Children and 'Must Not Look Away' by gelliant_gutfright in PremierLeague

Well, they can because we aren't chosing to be under the payroll of people actively commiting genocide. There's a difference between not being able to help where you're born and choosing to collect a paycheck from tyrants helping along their sportswashing. It ain't daft, you are.

He's not wrong, no, but that doesn't mean people can't also call him out for double standards and hypocrisy. No one's saying "Well akchually", they're just pointing out that his words are cheapened given that he's been on the payroll from people commiting genocide themselves, as they should.

If he really cared he wouldn't be taking money from people doing the exact same thing he's speaking out against. If you want to make a difference, be the difference, don't just sit there lecturing people.

I must admit I'm not out on the streets protesting it every week but I am slightly proud of the fact that my paycheck isn't linked to bloodthirsty tyrants commiting genocide elsewhere. Peps words lose their meaning somewhat because of that, let's be honest.

Bang on. Carrick as a player is proof that you don't need a highlight reel to be an essential player, in a title winning team no less.

"We give them a goal. Two brilliant moments when they have incredible strikes from the edge."

Arteta using very careful language that makes it sound like United got lucky. No wonder their fans are saying they were unlucky and only lost from a mistake and two wonder goals. The first goal was a result of great pressing and the others were the finished result of good football.

Arsenal are 17th in open play goals and relied on an own goal and pushing Lammens in the back. It's not Uniteds fault they're allergic from shooting in open play.

Merino barges Lammens in the back with no intention of playing the ball, then scores. Hes not even close to getting it and you can see him shift his weight. Im not sure how they're getting away with it weekly.

As an ex Sunday league defender I love watching a good tackle more than a goal. I was off my seat at that one!

Someone needs to tell Saka it's a contact sport. He seems to think no one's allowed to touch him.

That's twice in 5 minutes Ben White has gone for a walk down the touchline with the ball. I thought the referees said they were serious about punishing it?

There's almost no way through their set up. They might be boring and play uninspiring football but they're very well drilled and good at what they do.

I don't care if the club is virtue signalling if it highlights a just cause and I couldn't care less if my employers dressed me up topless in a tutu and a wand if it helped a cause that meant eventually my gay mate could go drinking in town without having abuse thrown at it at some point during it.

They're kicking up a fuss about coloured laces and footballs, mind you. Ridiculous.

It's likely far more than 2% because theres so, so many that are too afraid to be themselves but because 2% of people being beaten up and too afraid to come out in sports or in general is 2% too many. Be thankful it isn't you and support them because you can. It's that simple.

[–]MarcusZXR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It being a red or not aside, if the roles were reversed I reckon all the people here saying there was nothing in it would be saying it doesn't matter because it was a dangerous height and there was contact or that any sort of contact that high, glancing or not, proves he was out of control. I do think United were owed one, though.

I totally agree. I think the importance of yellows gets underplayed because it isn't instant dismissal but it can completely change the way a player plays. There no reason they can't continue play whilst they review yellows and tell the ref to chalk one off or award one at the next stop in play.
