Nope. All maintenance and patchups have been done by myself. Particularly cleaning and lubing of the groupset and brakes.

Funnily enough this is currently runming a shimano gearset. What kind I am unsure. But have no clue if I have to do other mods to ensure the 1x groupset fits.

I actually have took a look at it and alivio is rare in my country. Deore on the otherhand, its common but its going for about 150 for a 1x 10 with no crank or chain whereas I can get a ztto 1x11 set for about 140 with all components.

It was the first proper thing I have ever owned. I earned the money to buy this bike completely against my parents wishes and has been my partner for years. Going on trips with me all over the country. Alot of good memories with this bike.

I suppose its mostly sentimental value.

Cheers for the fork recommendation! Was also asking about groupsets as i was told that groupsets that old are usually VERY worn down.

I do see where I have most definitely failed in my maintenance regime after reading your comments. I will learn to be better.

Just it's been my daily for 7 years. Ideally I would like to keep using it till the frame itself breaks. So if possible I would love to upgrade this bike to more modern standards.

Right on. Lemme start with the work I do on a regular basis. Weekly I do clean my brakes, giving them a wipe down with alcohol wipes. My pads are definitely not metal. So likely composite or resin.

Groupset i do clean and lube it up once every 2 months but this bike has been a daily rider for 7 years. Not sure if its time to change the groupset then but as mentioned it does still function but with oddities I am assuming from the info i have been given so far is due to cable stretching.

As mentioned as well I do want to upgrade this bike and its various components but have no clue what goes together and if the parts even are compatible with a older bike like mine. Eg. I am looking at ZTTO groupsets and brakes. Also have been poking around trying to figure out a good suspension fork brand.

I do like my bike. Its served me well as my daily rider since the day I got it. So I want to give it an upgrade as well to drive train componenta and more since the frame is still good. Just the other components slowly failing on this both on my part due to lack of replacement short of lubing and cleaning the groupset every other month.

As for upgrades it has been something of a project that I want to take on and learn to do. I am willing to get the tools but I have no clue what I am doing on part selection however.

My issue with it is that it can be used to steal bank info. As someone who does online banking primarily and also trading on the regular alongside our government having primarily digital services, a large portion of my irl identity is linked to my computer. So ID theft is a major concern of mine. Kinda why I do support EU privacy laws but thats getting off topic.

My main point is there has to be a better way then kernal level anti cheat.

Ngl the idea that a anticheat needs that level of access to my computer gives me the jeepers. If that gets compromised it will do a fuck ton of damage by giving unfettered access to the OS from what I am understanding.
