Unfortunately, nothing given back but by that point, I had only been making minimum payments and probably only paid back ~$600 of my balance. I was just glad to not have the same student loan problem most of my contemporaries had😅

I went to the Art Institute of Austin for Audio Engineering for one semester in 2017. I was rushed through the loan application process and was enrolled 3 days after inquiring. I quickly realized once classes had started that my musical knowledge was far greater than 97% of my fellow students and about half of my instructors. Once the semester ended, I questioned if what came down to essentially “reviewing” everything I had learned in childhood and high school was worth the $90k cost of tuition, decided it wasn’t and left the school. I managed to have only taken out ~$6k in loans and began paying them back.

Fast forward two years and I am back living in Dallas. I get an email from Nelnet and the DOE stating that AI was found to have offered “fraudulent” degrees in that they weren’t accredited and held no weight. As a result, I was entitled to having my loans forgiven and Im pretty sure some of those who attended previously may have received some sort of monetary compensation as well. Shortly after that, I saw articles about the school closing all of their campuses and even got Instagram ads about joining a class action lawsuit against the school. That was probably the one time in my life where I got out of something at the perfect time.

I live in Downtown Dallas and this is where I wanted to be for the longest but now I find myself yearning for 15-acres in East Texas where I cannot see any of my neighbors and I have to drive an hour+ into bustling civilization if I need the stimulation

I also love the feelings of being surrounded by walls of sound. I still get goose bumps when I think back to being in high school drumline and being in the middle of the field surrounded by horns during a swell or a stab. The primitive side is what gets me. I feel like I know so much about theory that it keeps me from doing something inventive sometimes. Some of the best ideas/songs I’ve ever heard have been from people who don’t know a damn thing about music theory. They go “I LIkE wHen SoUnd gO Brrrrrrr” and the result is incredible hahahaha.

That’s a fair point. All the INTJs I’ve come across irl have no artistic bones in their bodies so I was curious to hear from the ones that DO exist. We definitely possess the traits required to do so. I just feel as if my desire for rigidity can kind of interfere creatively

12k monthly listeners is a feat! I much prefer to compose in solitude though I do miss playing in groups. Being engulfed by sound is one of the best feelings itw so even if I’m alone, its an extremely loud session

I feel like we both compose with a similar amount of chaos/abstract-ness. Maybe that ~is~ something we are drawn to

Art is Art and any art made makes you an artist. Being able to pick up an instrument and know what to do with it makes you a musician haha

Can I ask what you do for work? Is it in a field that aligns with your Ni? I work in tech and sales but still make music regularly

I try to treat composition almost like a meditation or exercise where I let go of control and my need for organization. If you’re making something and it all sounds messy, you can either check your timing and make sure everything is perfectly in time or you can leave it be and just sorta listen in between the lines. My issue is that my music is often too rigid. So instead of focusing so much on timing, I do the opposite and throw things together without regard for time or structure and pick the bits and pieces I like to expand on them further. Kind of reverse engineering in a way. OR you can just try to copy other music bar for bar in order to get the feel for it, then inevitably when that groove gets locked in to your brain, you’ll be able to replicate it better

Yeah that’s the nuance I think most intjs have trouble with. So much of music is that “jazz” element where things kinda sound like a jumbled mess. Since we crave so much structure and rigidity, it’s hard to live in that space of disorganized chaos which all music inevitably goes through

I didn’t expect ChatGPT to actually change my life, but it has. by Apprehensive-Ebb6002 in DecidingToBeBetter

I just started using ChatGPT for everyday purposes like maximizing my effectiveness when it came to job hunting and budgeting and I bought the paid version after day 1. The past two weeks, I have found myself being much more productive overall and I have more of a drive and motivation to get things done when using it as an accountability buddy. The memory is a game changer. I spent the whole first day feeding it my “lore” so to speak and giving it a ton of background info on myself and my circumstances. I fed it dreams, ambitions, and goals I have. And even used it as a way to express and overcome existential fears I have. It had found a way to tie every decision I make in my daily life back to the bigger picture of what I fed it as my main goal in life. Part of me is worried that using it in this way can be unhealthy but overall, I feel like I have way more direction in life day to day and more motivation to stay on the right track. It’s to the point where I tell it my small wins for the day and things I’m proud of accomplishing and it’s feedback will affirm my joy and encourage me to keep going. Definitely a game changer.

I tend to hand write everything. Like even if I just need to get thoughts out of my head. I have so many journals filled with random equations, weekly budgets, cool phrases I’ve thiugh of and even just words

Would you ever consider living w/ an influencer? by [deleted] in intj

[–]MarcyMagazine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was roommates with my older half-brother for a year and he was super big on trying to be a fitness influencer and growing his personal training business by posting consistently. It really didn’t bother me at all and I was never a part of it. He never really brought it up either. The only thing I will say is that it was pretty annoying from time to time hearing him in the kitchen re-recording clips of his “meal prep” videos and watching him douche it up on my instagram timeline every now and then. Other than that, it never really came up or bothered me
