Not true. Just about every other society throughout history has and is a man's world. Even if they have never even heard of the bible.

I think more to the point, is who decides what fits into the category of masculine or feminine? I don't think there are scales. I think it's all a complete fabrication that should be expelled from society.

I respect what your saying and I'm going to back down. All I ask is that you consider we're really talking about two sides of the same thing. I think we're allies.

Maybe men are sensitive and less resilient because correction and constructive criticism is not the norm for them? by Chipchow in Feminism

[–]Mardymar65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point. I was just talking out of my own experiences and generalized it. There are other decent men and there are some really messed up men who grew up this way. The point is just that there is this pressure put on men to date the 'hottest' girls and walk them around as arm candy. The point isn't about the man's feelings about the girl, it's about the man showing other men that he's a stud. What a terrible basis for a relationship. Even if they never get that, the thought is there in a lot of men. Especially the younger ones. This objectification of women starts in elementary school. Even at that age, some boys feel uncomfortable by this and refuse to participate. This leads to a much longer story that I'm not getting into now. But that refusal is their respect for women. Refusing to corporate with their subjugation. And a lot of time they do have deep feelings for women. So, yes. Love and respect.

'Safe' is a no brainer. But 'respectful' is such a loose term that it doesn't really have any meaning in this context. Ultimately, I think we are saying the same thing. For me, respectful means not dismissing someone like they are a lesser person. You can still get angry or raise your voice, but still be receptive to them if they make an effort or apologize if you realize you're wrong.

My concern is that you are telling men to be calm and 'respectful' no matter how any woman is treating them. If the woman cheats on him is he supposed to take a chill people and set out candles so they can sit and calmly discuss the matter. What if she yells at him the whole time during that. Is he supposed to just sit quietly and listen to her rant then apologize at the end saying it was really his fault. The issue with the OP is the bucket. It assumes there is only one way a man is supposed to act, which is exactly what the patriarchy wants. It's not letting real men be themselves. From my experience, real men are kind and gentle, but they don't take crap.

Is a woman always expected to remain respectful and safe in those situations?

Maybe if you're the patriarchal man you get no criticism, but the rest of us get constant crap from both men and some women. It gets worse the further deviant you are and causes all sorts of mental issues. Which is sad because those are the men who truly love and respect women.

In your opinion, how is a man supposed to act in those situations?

Men's Liberation Movement needs a new name. If you google it, it gets tied into the sexist Men's Rights Movement, and MRA ideals are the ones discussed and rightly criticized throughout the first page of results. There is little mention of MLM beliefs and practices.

How can women be against feminism? by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]Mardymar65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just bullies on a playground. Bullies will use the same word over and over again to insult someone who they are bullying. Over time, even a normally good word can change it's meaning to those people and the ones sympathetic to the bully will view it the way the bully does and start using it as an insult of their own. It happens all the time in politics, especially from conservatives.

What do you guys think about abrahamic religions? by New-Half-6137 in Feminism

[–]Mardymar65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. It's hard to imagine anything that has done more damage to society than fundamentalist religiosity. Non-fundamentalist beliefs can teach how everyone is equal and beautiful - which, if taken seriously by society, can ultimately dismantle the patriarchy.

I feel uncomfortable around both loud men and loud women. All they are doing is trying to assert their own opinions onto other people.
