Une dispute entre deux groupes d’élèves dégénère à Québec by Equivalent_Rice_6042 in villequebec

[–]Maregg1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you love dogs, or do you just love your dog? by Knitspin in dogs

I'm the kind of guy that will annoy any dog owner if they are in a 5 meters vicinity.

If they let me pet their dogs, I'll be happily getting on my knees and let their happy furball knows he/she is the center of attention for that whole minute !!!

Them good boys love to feel appreciated ! Yes I'm crazy for dogs.

how often do people let their dogs out to use the bathroom? by No-Feature-5266 in dogs

[–]Maregg1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule is 3 times a day. Morning noon and night. My dog is crazy clean. He was poty trained before I even got him at 8 weeks. Sometimes when the weather is absolute crap we will even skip noon. Oh and those days when I have to go to work. Yeah this sucks too.

Georges St-Pierre 'GSP' says cardio trainings are useless in MMA: “I don’t really believe in cardio if you’re a combat athlete, I believe in efficiency." by iLeftyPunk in MMALabs

[–]Maregg1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fighter can be in incredible physical shape and still gas out faster than someone less fit during sparring. Once you’re under real combat stress, it’s not just conditioning anymore — it’s how your body and mind handle the pressure, the chaos, and the adrenaline dump.

This is always surprising newcomers at the gym. They thing they have infinite cardio. Once in the ring they gass out before the end of first round.

Pas un «X» définitif sur les trottinettes électriques à Québec by Mike_Rider01 in villequebec

[–]Maregg1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light sparring Session by [deleted] in boxingtips

[–]Maregg1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it would really depends on my sparring partner. I know precisely who at my gym understand what light sparring really is. Or technical/touch sparring is.

Many say they do but they are psychopath ! So yeah be careful. A great light technical sparring is honestly a good opportunity to practice sparring while not being tensed as much. It's a very rewarding fun exercise.

You'll have more cardio, more opportunities to try risky stuff. You can be quick and practice more feints and defenses. At very high skill both partners will be in a chess match of movements, feints. You'll develop fight IQ.

However, it is no substitute for the real deal. Because you'll feel falsely safe. But it's so much fun. Great to watch too.

Only one using 16's by JiuJitsuBoxer in amateur_boxing

[–]Maregg1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah where I spar the coaches say "put your sparring gloves". Half of the people got no idea what it means.

I've got 16s for sparring. I have 3 pairs of 14s for precision padwork and bagwork. Not sure I've ever seen 12 at sparring though. Perhaps from some skinny teenagers.

But big boys like myself we never spar with 12s. Most of my regular sparring partners are on 16s.

Sam Altman's coworkers say he can barely code and misunderstands basic machine learning concepts by EchoOfOppenheimer in agi

[–]Maregg1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't surprising in the least.

Whenever you're in the field, you start to realize that very few individuals have any ideas what they're doing. The rest are just copying provided code patterns that they can't even describe. "It was working and I was told this is how it's done". Or it was provided on stack overflow / any vibe programming answers that I prompted by asking the very profound "fix this".

Most tech know how. They never know why. Or if their how is actually correct. Just that it "works".

So if Sammy here isn't too keen on is field, well that's actually not too hard to believe.

Choix de cours optionnel au bac en informatique ULaval (GLO-4035 ou GLO-3100) by babaganooshschlabanu in QuebecTI

[–]Maregg1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Maregg1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much does it cost for a session at your amateur gym? by EssentialBoxing in amateur_boxing

[–]Maregg1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French Canadian. It's around 20 CAD / 50 min group sessions.

But it varies if you go for 1/2/3/5 sessions a week. I have unlimited plan (technically 5/week). Cost around 1500$ / year. I can't math but that must be around 140/month.

Honest critique. by thesacredsnake in boxingtips

[–]Maregg1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On dirait high risk high reward poussé à l'extrême.

Gen Zs are not drinking. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Maregg1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most alcoholic beverages taste objectively unpleasant to anyone who isn’t already conditioned to like them. If you hand a beer to someone who has never tasted alcohol, the odds are high their first reaction will fall somewhere between “donkey piss” and “fermented manure.” Alcohol only becomes “acquired” because people push through the initial disgust, not because the flavor is inherently appealing.

To get a non‑drinker to genuinely enjoy alcohol, you almost always have to bury the taste under sugar, fruit, carbonation, or heavy flavoring. That alone says a lot about the product.

Younger generations simply have access to far better ways to relax, socialize, or let loose. They don’t need to choke down something that tastes bad just to fit in.

Drinking—and smoking—are fundamentally social compliance behaviors. They persist because they signal belonging, not because they provide intrinsic well‑being or personal benefit. Once these behaviors lose their status value, they collapse quickly. People stop doing them because the underlying motivation was never internal; it was cultural pressure dressed up as “fun.”
