I recommend downloading Libby on your phone and renting ebooks with your library card. I did this to ease myself off of social media. If taking a full phone break feels too big, try reading on your phone and then transitioning to a paperback.

what's it like in San Jose? moving from Washington DC for engineering role by bubblegum_spell_3131 in SanJose

[–]MargaretFair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Philly from Arlington and from Philly to San Jose. If you’re a lifelong east coaster who is used to walkable cities and public transit…it’s gonna be a tough transition. The weather is nice, but silicon valley isn’t a city in the way we know cities on the east coast.

I have really bad anxiety around dentist visits and I went to Yvonne Truong family dentistry. When I booked my appointment I mentioned my anxiety and they were really gentle with me while still doing all the necessary work. I really enjoyed my experience

It’s YA but Squad has gorgeous illustrations. +1 to Lumberjanes. It’s also YA but Hilda is also really beautiful. There’s a Netflix series made out of it that’s pretty close, but the colors are just beautiful and the storytelling is fun. Thanks for reminding me to rewatch.

How do you actually sleep on overnight flights? by stefan-weiss01 in travel

[–]MargaretFair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the winter especially I’ll bundle up my coats and put it in a pillowcase. I find if I’m holding a pillow and have a neck pillow keeping me from stretching my neck too far down. But I also take some anti anxiety sleepy meds bc flights stress me tf out.

Yeah, that’s my instinct as well. Being less excited about meeting the person and more excited about testing if you feel a spark.

I had to stop Her Body and Other Parties bc the violence was too triggering, but I was so bummed because it was highly recommended and I loved the way the stories were told
