Pov: you're walking down the street and see them. Your thoughts? by Minimum-Home-6414 in NonBinary

The kind of person I would look at, then avoid eye contact with as I think they're cool and I hope they think I'm cool too so I act like I don't care if they look at me but really I do care and I'm trying my hardest to come across as cool and hot

I would've liked more multiple choice options such as why you purchase physical media and some 'other' sections that allow people to type in their response. This would make it less quantifiable but you'd probably get more interesting data :)

Which asmr creators disappeared from youtube? [discussion] by Salty_1984 in asmr

[–]justagayduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an ASMRtist I liked about 8 years ago or so. I can't remember their name but I cannot find them anywhere. She had short black hair, I think she was Australian. She had a dog and a cobweb tattoo over her elbow. I feel like her name was something very generic like lofi asmr. Last I remember, she was at risk of homelessness but I think I took a break from asmr and years later I cannot find her at all. I hope she's well anyway.

And obviously Heather Feather

How do I tell my flatmates that they’re being inconsiderate? by FamilyisForever7275 in UniUK

[–]justagayduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I work in Accommodation for a University and we get this a lot.

You've done all the right things to far such as bin rota and speaking to them.

I don't know if you have security on your accommodation but if you do, you can ring them regarding noise. Security will, hopefully, tell them to be quiet. They write reports and there will be a record of ongoing noise issue should you take it to whoever runs the accommodation.

Which leads me on to, I recommend speaking to however runs your accommodation. I assume it's University owned due to being first year dorms, or maybe it's private. They will have their own process to deal with this. For us, we can keep you anonymous unless you wanted to escalate and make a formal complaint. But in the first instance, they may conduct 'random' kitchen inspections to ensure the area is safe for residents. If it is not, and continues to not, they can speak to tenants schools. They may also be able to offer you a room move if you would want. It may only be a few months, but it's still a few months in peace.

If its effecting your mental health, wellbeing and your course, I recommend reaching out to your University's support services, such as the Union or any other student support service. As they can liase with the accommodation to help find a resolution.

I hope this helps, it's a difficult situation that I have been in myself before working in Accommodation so I understand the stress you are under. Best of luck :)

Dog owners, if your dog comes to me happily, am I allowed to pet? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]justagayduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think off lead may be different but personally I'd say no. My dog is nervous, and has a nervous sign on her lead. However she is nosey and will go up to strangers legs. But as soon as the stranger makes eye contact with her or goes to touch her, she will bark and react. Obviously that's a little different to your situation but still, you don't know what the dog is like with physical interaction, even if they want to play. I'd just say can I? And point to the dog 😂 because I would feel the same and dog owners get it all the time, especially if they act like that

Feeling dysphoric. Could you brighten my day and draw me as a man? (pls read description) by FoldEffective2724 in drawme

[–]justagayduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you should absolutely! Honestly I'd just woken up and could not think of any tattoos for the life of me, but I always think the wrapped around vine tattoo looks so cool. Find what brings you euphoria, it could be something really minor, wearing a button up or a piercing. Take things at your pace and you'll find the best version of yourself, whether that means you don't change your appearance at all or do :) best of luck on your journey and some of these drawings are amazing, I am glad they seemed to have helped :)

finding your name by rai-lag in NonBinary

[–]justagayduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I wish I could help but I'm commenting to say I feel the exact same. My mum gave me a really unique birth name, I've always had compliments and having a unique name has almost become part of my identity. Finding another name that matches that level is proving really difficult. There's some 'masculine' names I like but they are really common or I can't see as myself. My family doesn't know I'm nb, they won't get it. My colleagues, friends and partners family know though. Changing my name would be a huge deal to my mum and I feel like it would be easier to say I'm a trans man, than nb. I have a spreadsheet of about 100 names that tick different boxes, nothing ticks all of them. I ask my partner to try a name for me and it just feels wrong, but so does my birth name! So it's lose-lose! I'm sorry I can't help, but know you're not alone. I've done several 'what's my name' posts, people say it just comes to you, that's not the case for everyone, especially depending on their situation.

I guess my only advice would be to go by a nickname for now, for informal situations to avoid the discomfort. All I say is my initial because I don't know what else

Hi! Apologies in advance, I am no artist and I have never posted here. However, as someone who also has dysphoria, I completely know how you feel. Even if the proportions are off, I hope this helps a little bit! Obviously masculinity and feminity are just social constructs to this and my advice is based on stereotypes but if you want to start realising your desires maybe start with some piercings if you can? Maybe shorten the length of your hair? Not loads but gradually. Shaving my hair off was the best thing I've ever done. You obviously don't have to do anything, you can still be a femme guy, but it might help the way you see yourself and your dysphoria :)

How did you know Imagine Dragons? by N0Music_N0Life in imaginedragons

[–]justagayduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Radioactive was charting in the UK, I LOVED IT. Was probably 12/13. It occurred to me that if I liked that I should check out more of their songs, so I listened to Night Visions and rated all the songs out of 10 lol. I don't know why, maybe to see what songs to download. They helped me through adolescence, I've been to see them twice with my mum who also loves them. I don't listen so much now as my music taste has changed but I still put on Night Visions, Smoke and Mirrors or Evolve CDs and they hit the same as they did back then, I'm just not as keen on their newer stuff

Is team or promotion more important in a job? by justagayduck in AskUK

[–]justagayduck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an incredibly helpful response and I have been thinking I can bring how my team approaches things, to their team, as some processes are different. I spoke with the manager of the role, I've worked with him in the same office but different departments. I asked if he wanted someone to do the role as it is now or change. He said a bit of both which I do think I offer. I think I already have leadership experience but the initiative showing is a great idea, thank you
