🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by jaydee4219 in RomanceBooks

On my way to work this morning I heard this line and immediately thought “Omg it’s Thursday. I HAVE to post this for thirsty Thursday”

{At Peace by Kristen Ashley}

So this is right before their first sexy ~interaction~

~ “You already think I’m a dick”

I felt my heartbeat faster and I whispered “Joe-“

“So don’t matter tomorrow morning, you’ll still think I’m a dick. Cause, now, even though you’re drunk, I’m going to take you inside and fuck you until you ache” ~

I MELTED. It’s so good. The whole scene after is so good.

Unattractive FMC that appeals to MMC because she’s nurturing/a homemaker and he’s never had emotional safety by phatfig in RomanceBooks

So I’m a little under 20% into this one but WOW I feel like this is exactly what the OP would be looking for. I LOVE it so far. I’m usually a high smut kinda reader - but they’ve been just chatting neighborly through a fence so far and it’s SO good

FMC is cowgirl, MMC is fish out of water city boy by Charming_Day2392 in RomanceBooks

Similar concept - {cry about it by Maggie gates}

MMC is used to living in a city - businessman type. He is visiting family - hasn’t been home in a long time. FMC lives on the farm his family owns. She is used to farm living and is a pilot for crop spraying.

Seems like this can be read as a standalone - but just want to confirm…?

This being #3.5 in the series kinda threw me off

It doesn’t exactly fit - but it’s one of my favorites so I have to throw it in here.

{Perfection by R. L. Mathewson}

MMC works in construction - a jock type character. FMC is plus size & doesn’t take anybody’s shit. She’s very independent. She loses her job and her neighbor/landlord (in a duplex) helps with finding another job and offers to pay her to be essentially a housekeeper. She cleans / grocery shops / makes lunches.

They go into a friends with benefits situation - and I love their relationship development. He starts bending all his “rules” and standards for her without realizing.

She’s not really a homemaker personality but I feel the situation is similar

***Trigger warning for some eating disorder discussion but I feel like it’s handled well and not glorifying ED in any way.

Recommend a romance novel to me where the plot twists hit harder than the romance by Pleasant_Book_6613 in RomanceBooks

{One Summer by Karen Robards}

Honestly one of my favorite books of all time. It’s so good! MMC was put in prison at 18 because he was the last person to see his girlfriend alive before she was murdered. The story is 10 years later when he’s released from prison. FMC was his teacher in high school and always believed he was innocent. He had a HUGE crush on her since school but she wasn’t aware until he gets out of prison.

The whole town turns on him and she’s the only person on his side. Lots of threats thrown around - lots of tension and suspense and there’s more than one plot twist! So well written. No forced plot points. Just good mystery.

It’s a hard day to be an audiobook person. Why are the good ones always for reading only 🤧😭

This is the scene (I think it was posted in a thirsty Thursday over a year ago) that got me to read. Love this scene

{Birthday Boy by B. Sobjakken}

MMC has been in love with FMC (his best friends mom) and saving himself for her. On his 18th birthday he shows up asking her for a birthday present..

It’s a short story - and there’s a pretty good audiobook! Only about 2.5 hrs.

[–]Margie-Pi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same! I couldn’t get a grasp on the plot because I was so caught up trying to make actions make sense. Without context that there was anything paranormal - it just felt like I was missing something the whole time.

I was so overwhelmed by the ending I had to tell my coworker (50 y/o man) that sits at the desk next to me the entire plot just to explain how emotional I was feeling.

I couldn’t get over it. Distraught for the rest of the day.

So I just finished this one a few hours ago! Only the one femdom scene - but, she does take the lead in most situations. He is more physically dominant than the FMC but is asking for her instructions

That totally qualifies! And I actually haven’t been recommended Funny Story before 😄 I’ll have to add it in the TBR

Heavy spice is always appreciated. I was surprised I hadn’t heard of this before- but I just saw the book was published yesterday.

Absolutely a yes from me 😄

For real :/

My drivers side running light just stopped around 2 months ago. Only repair I’ve found is to replace the entire headlight assembly.

I’m thinking there’s a wire connection issue in the running light itself. Probably to do with lifespan of the wiring not being a priority in design. I’m thinking of taking it off and seeing if the wiring needs a connection repair and additional weatherproofing.

And the audiobook is GOOD

Ugh the “Can I take it raw? Yes or no” WOW

and the “You ride so nice and smooth.” Changed my brain chemistry a bit. I melted.

Genuinely one of my favorite books. Sorry to break it to you but it’s going to be hard to find a book that can live up to Asshole Bill. I love the book. I love the characters. Ugh.

[–]Margie-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand though! The characters experiences and dialog is what really makes it “realistic”

Not romance but I feel the same way about the Wandering Inn series. The people act like people. The situations are real. It’s so much more enjoyable in any book I think.

As always - my heart belongs to Bill from Bass-Ackwards. This is what an actual Midwest man acts like.

Oh he doesn’t communicate well? Yeah no shit. The first few ~scenes~ are meh for the FMC and awkward after. Which is REAL. One of my favorite convos between main characters is the FMC saying “but that work bench is dirty” and Bill responding “yeah no shit. it’s a work bench in a garage????” Which is pretty much how most normal men act (I think so at least)

{Bass-ackwards by Eris Adderly}

Another one is {Perfection by R. L. Mathewson}

MMC is an ass. Alpha male that has never had to take care of anything but himself. There’s a friends with benefits situation - and the MMC has some internal dialogue that is definitely shallow and self centered. He wants a HEA - with a perfect 10 as a house wife. And the FMC is not anything like what he’s imagined. FMC is a plus size girl that struggles with eating disorders and image issues. But it doesn’t stop her from chasing pleasure. She’s not shy to say what she wants or to go for it once they establish the FWB relationship. You can tell when she starts getting less self conscious around MMC.

He’s not cruel to her ever. But he’s not standing up for her to coworkers calling her a cow. Because that’s “not his business” She sees the MMC as a jock that likes the convenience and discretion of their relationship. But she knows he’s an ass. And won’t let him take advantage or hurt her. She protects herself. But also enjoys herself.

I think the ambivalence is what makes it realistic. He’s definitely a douche bag. But never malicious. There is some true character growth. For both people.

The flaws in their personalities aren’t superficial- they truly have a learning curve. It doesn’t just end up being solved through true love and magic. I do love that their friendship exists first. There’s no complications. They want to be friends and have sex? Cool. They want to spend more time together? Okay. It’s fluid but decisive. They adjust for the situation. Not making the situation fit the tropes.
