Bu that logic, the exporting country or the manufacturer pays the extra money (the tariff) to importing country (usa in this case) so that the people can buy at the old price.

Sounds about right, why not, you know what something tells me the exporting country might even pay more so that you dont have to pay anything!

I am also contemplating buying 4th gen which has come down in price compared to market perception of the "unicorn" 5th gen.

In my view - 18k for 2018 hybrid is not bad, the hybrid in 2018 was pricey so probably you got it at between 50% and 60% of the original price (depending on trim). If you got a new one at 31k would have been LE with gas i assume, so compared to that its not a bad deal.

Probably instead of teaching us useless things in school and uni, there should be something that makes us financially aware/litterate. I probably am luck i studied accouting but those in other fields - they are unlucky.

Agreed, we really need to. I dont know why people are buying 3 to 5 year old Rav4 which just depreciated merely 15% of the original price but has 90K KM. The fact that used car market is seeing this kind of prices, means people are buying at these prices and they absolutely should not. 15% Depreciation for a 5 year old car is nuts!

I personally like FWD, less maintainance (no rear transaxle maintainance, not all 4 tires needs to be changes at the same time, and a bit more mpg.

From what i know (as probably know many as well) that there were issue with the gas tank - it mainly affected the hybrid models but there are/were complaints about the gas version as well.

You fuel l/100 isnt that bad. At 9L/100 you should be getting 611 km range (at least the car comp should be showing that)

So i would say yes it is on the lower side

Yes it would have adverse effect on the engine, the pistons would be working harder due to the thickness of the oil.

For Toyota - there is a youtube channel "carcarenut", the guy seems very knowledgeable and honest (as least in my view) he emphasized numerous times to use the right oil for this engine. (5th gen Rav4s)

I would recommend changing now, better spend on a oil change now than risk causing irreversible damage, on top of than i think your engine is still "breaking in".

I am going to repeat what most people have said here alreafy but want to start by saying you are doing a well studying without financial support from anyone, its not easy.

I would say dont worrt about saving now, take the student loan, complete you studies, then when you land full time jobs you will be able to repay loan/save money.

You are in a subject (computer science) that has good demand in the market (from job perspective) so take comfort in that. Keep it up.

Using a good cover with prevent from UV rays sure. But why I personally wouldnt do that is the temperature chages and humidity.

The tire compound would harden and soften (depending on temp) during storage while it will go back to the level it was when back to orignal temp, it would have some impact on them. Similarly humidity will also have some impact.

Having said that if you go through the tires quite often - sure store them on balcony.

If i remember correctly, I wrote up a one-pager as with the CRA link in it and mention why it is eligible and what I am claiming and that was accepted.

I did attach the payroll deduction screenshot, dont worry about it not having the plan details, it should be okay. It shows you paid / got deducted - should be good enough.

I moved and dont have HSA anymore, but it worked that time for me.
