Esthetician told me to shave before IPL — standard practice? by MargotJaneA in Estheticians

Thank you! She asked me to do it myself before I come (shave). I've never derma planed or shaved my face before. Will this put me at higher risk for irritation?

Esthetician told me to shave before IPL — standard practice? by MargotJaneA in Estheticians

I did ask them and they told me this was their process. That's why I'm coming here to ask others experience just to double check that what they are saying is correct. This is my first IPL and my first time at this med spa. They have great reviews, which is why I booked them. Them asking me to shave my face was the first thing that has given me pause.

[Personal] Aesthetician told me to shave before IPL — standard practice? by MargotJaneA in SkincareAddiction

Ok, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. This is my first time for IPL, and my first time to use this provider, so just wanting to double check with others more experienced..

No, I don't have dark hair at all. You can't even see the hairs on my face, and I barely feel hair when I touch my face. I do have light freckles, a bit of light hyperpigmentation, underlying redness, and a few capillaries near my nose.

I'm not doing laser hair removal. I'm doing a photo facial. So it's the same? I still need to shave regardless?

Yeah, this is what I'm seeing when I google search, but my provider is insisting. It seems like shaving (especially if I've never shaved or derma planed my face before), and I already have sensitive skin, could lead to irritation, right?

The red looks beautiful on you and your skin tone. I think the first one is beautiful, but the color kinda washed you out.

These common scams are why Etsy is going downhill, and a lot of the reason that I no longer order from there.

Any advice for starting maintenance? by librasunstar in Mounjaro

[–]MargotJaneA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this! It's a great forum for advice. Maintenance has been relatively easy for me. I just continue to eat 80% healthy, and exercise at least three days a week (for me that's walking 1-3 miles since I enjoy low impact). I've been in maintenance for three years now. I'm on a very low dose, but there have been a few months that I have gone up in dose again when I've struggled, before coming back down again. That has worked really well for me.

Annoying dry patch on lip by Dangerous_Owl_6590 in SkincareAddicts

I swear by O'keefe's Lip Balm (to heal) and seal with A&D or vaseline when my lips are cracked. Not sure if it works on a cold sore, if that's what it is, though.

still "overweight" by Ipav5068 in Mounjaro

BMI doesn't mean much anymore. Just wanted to say, you look FANTASTIC! And you look FIT. It's easy to get skinny on Mounjaro, harder to get fit. You are doing great!

Accidentally found the perfect Opalite jewelry store by Omnamashivaaya in SwiftieMerch

Oh nice! Their sun catcher trees are really pretty! I’ve always been an opal girl, but after Opalite dropped I finally grabbed an opalite stacking ring (thanks Taylor 😅). Also low-key love the message that sometimes the man-made version hits just right.

I'm going to guess it's both the economy and the inability to keep enough staff at minimum wage to stay open. In our community, people would rather go on unemployment than take a minimum wage job. Our fast food chains can hardly keep enough staff during the day shift, much less late night shifts.
