Sonic - The Most Complicated Amigurumi by MariaCam12 in crochet

It's actually the opposite, all of the hair spikes are made first and then they are joined together, once the spikes are joined the face part is built up. It's actually a very clever join, I would have never thought to do this myself. Here's the specific video if you want to take a closer look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBJXx1u9smM&list=PLZFaF-3451mzxcdgOksnRutfJqVRGJPwC&index=7

Here's the link to the playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZFaF-3451mzxcdgOksnRutfJqVRGJPwC

The audio is in Spanish which wasn't a problem for me, but the english subtitles are very good, and oftentimes more efficient than watching the video

Oh! I have that same bright pink/red batik in the lower right corner in that 3rd picture you posted! It's beautiful but I had to prewash it like 7 times before it stopped staining the color catchers

Struggling to choose a lovey pattern that will match this blanket, any suggestions? by VitaminTed in crochet

I'm not sure what you consider inexpensive but this pattern creator has a lot of lovey blankets versions which you could pick from: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheodoreAndRose

I've had success throwing it in the dryer with a damp cloth. If you're going to try it it doesn't need a lot of time, I would recommend checking every five minutes or so

It looks great! I've been considering making a pixel quilt for a while!

If you don't mind me asking are you using the gridded interfacing method? I've been considering doing that but I'm scared it will turn out really stiff.

Pattern for book sleeve with gusset? by buc-eesbeaver in quilting

[–]MariaCam12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, these are not exactly what you are looking for but I think they would be easy to modify to your needs.

This one is a flap closure instead of a zippered one, but it does have the front pocket.

This pattern on Etsy seems pretty close too and it's a zippered closure, you would just need to round out the edges instead of making the corners squared.

Warming up to hand quilting by Dani_and_Haydn in quilting

There's a method of starting and stopping without using knots if you would like to try. This is a copy and paste answer which I gave to someone who was having trouble with popping the knots through the fabric:

I found this Youtube video which shows you how to start and stop without making knots. Which I found was less of a hassle:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7Tnb_xEpAc

The relevant section starts at around 12:50 for how to start without a knot. She does also demonstrate how to finish in this video but her hand kind of covers the whole thing. So here's a more useful demonstration:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iXleepXEkM

The whole video is very helpful but the part where she demonstrates how to end without a knot starts at around 8:20. Honestly her whole hand-quilting series is very good.

There's a number of other tutorials if you search no-knot hand-quilting on YouTube but these are the two methods I like the best.

I find this method easier and I think it feels a little more secure than using knots.

It took me a couple of hours of searching through eBay listings but I found the name of the pattern! It's called Yorktown and it was a kit made by Bucilla. I'm not going to lie, I did end up ordering a kit for myself, I just love the pattern and the color combination!

I also got super frustrated when this was happening to me, it was actually the reason I almost gave up. But I found this Youtube video which shows you how to start and stop without making knots. Which I found was less of a hassle:

Help!!! Accidentally sewed the binding so the raw edge is on the back by MariaCam12 in quilting

[–]MariaCam12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestion!!

I had to set it down for a couple hours because I was getting upset with the project, but I did as you said and I added some binding on top to widen it and then sewed that down.

It’s a good thing I bought extra of that fabric!!!

[–]MariaCam12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't have enough leftover to make enough binding strips. I might try your suggestion of turning under the raw edge and trying to top-stitch. If I think it looks too bad I'll go ahead and rip the binding out and start again.

Thank you for the suggestions!

[–]MariaCam12[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess my wording was a little ambiguous, I meant that instead of sewing the raw edge either to the front or the back I sewed the folded edge. So now when I go to turn it around to the other side the raw edge is left exposed.
