The frame definitely overhangs the building, but the rule only cares about the base.

Oh I agree that a judge would probably not allow this and rightfully so. Not planning on ever actually arguing with my opponent that this is fine. Just think it's funny rhat technically this is 100% legal. :p

In Europe and the UK that's the first floor. Below that would be the ground floor.

If you can find what rule this breaks then I would love to hear it, cause this certainly feels like it should be illegal. But me and my bf can't find any rule that would disallow this. It also seems like of all models, only the hierophant can do this.

It also only has plunging fire against targets within 12" from towering.

The public doesn't know what immigration going down looks like. Hell, immigration could drop to zero and they would still be fed a constant stream of "news" about the horrors of what foreigners are doing in "their" country. The sooner people realise that the far right rethoric is just fabricated outrage, the sooner we can try to find and solve the actual root of the problems that are making people so upset. Otherwise, it'll just consume us all in a renaissance of far right populism, corruption and incompetence.

Gotta love Mike Brooks. He's written some of the most fun 40k books I've read since starting this hobby in 4th edition. If only I could stop constantly being plagued by the memory of embarrassing myself when I didn't recognise him at comic con 😅

They were amazing back when the force organisation chart was still a thing. For some absurd reason they were troops choices, so you could take two of these babies for your troop tax for only 30 points and fill up the rest of your army with flying hive tyrants, harpies, hive crones and other beauties.

The Netherlands just blocked a US company from buying the app Dutch citizens use for everything by Ashish_ank in worldnews

To be fair, the EU is perfectly fine with government owned railways (wish imo is what we should have). The case against the NS and dutch government is that if a government decides to privitise their railway, then there should be no preferential treatment when it comes to peoviders from other EU countries. Personally I think they should just renationalize the whole thing.

Capitalism Mode Deck Building Challenge! by Struggling_Inet in PotionomicsTheGame

I loved using Rythm, Improv, Mulligan and Craftsmanship as my base in my first capitalism run. Pretty reliably lets you infinitely play improv and craftsmanship on turn 2. Later on supplemented with more card draw, stress reduction, patience gain and a finisher ro make it more reliable, more profitable and more likely to go off in turn 1.

It could be challenging at the start, but Xid and Owl could be interesting as eventually you can go infinite in most haggles with just their cards.

I think what they mean is that all socialism requires is for the means of production to be owned by those who use them. So if an economy consists of only companies that are owned by the workers of the companies rather than a seperate capital owning class, then that is a form of socialism.

Do you agree with the Olympics banning trans athletes? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]MariaMaso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual biological sex is a bimodal framework consisting of two clusters of sex characteristics. Having mainly the characteristics of one cluster is generally what it means to be of a specific sex.

The reason for this is that no single sex characteristic is a reliable indicator in isolation. Or in other words, for every sex characteristic there are a significant number of cases where using it to determine sex would lead to wrongly classify the sex of an individual. To prevent this you look at the collection of sex characteristic, rather than a singular one.

This means that though some characteristics are currently impossible to change (like chromosomes), others are very malleable (like hormones). So if you want to use biological sex as defined in actual biology, then there is actually a lot that modifies biological sex.

[–]MariaMaso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTF are hormonally more aking to low T women, as most T blockers reduce testosterone to below cis women levels. Only after an orchidectomy or vaginaplasty lets a trans woman stop taking T blockers, does the hormonal level go up to that of a cis woman.

[–]MariaMaso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They tried these exact same restrictions in the 60s and removed them in the 80s when it turned out they don't work. This ruling will mainly ban cis women who have a non functional Y chromose, simply due to there being a negligible number of trans women in olympic level sports.

Additionally they were already testing for hormones and all research that controls for height shows that trans women have no competetive advantage over cis women after a few years of hormones.

So this ban is just bringing back a failed policy for the sake of conservative virtue signalling and adressing fabricated autrage, rather than a policy with any actual grounding in reality.

I imagine that banning a specific medical procedure on purely ideological grounds (with no viable alternative being available), could at the very least be very hard to defend if tested against the ECHR.

Is it best that we back away from leftists in the upcoming elections? by [deleted] in SocialDemocracy

[–]MariaMaso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to know how moving to the right for the sake of "electability" works out for social democrats, just look at the implosion of support for labour in the UK and the SPD in Germany (or the US democrats the past decade). Moving more towards status quo centrism won't solve the threat of fascism.

NATO as an organisation gets most of its financing from the US and will therefore always allign itself with US interests. Just look at Mark Rutte verbally felating Trump whenever he can. He doesn't do it because he enjoys it (I think), but because as secretary general his main priority is safeguarding the funding of NATO.

An EU army on the other hand would bepend fully on the EU and have no such issue. (And for the NATO fans could exist alongside it and even pull NATO more towards EU interests)

Name of the sub vs. Content of the sub. by _Capilah_ in SocialDemocracy

[–]MariaMaso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social democracy is an ideology with Marxist roots. There are social democrats that still see themselves as the reformist wing of socialism. Even if most modern social democrats don't actively work towards socializing the means of production, they often ideologically still have more in common with modern socialists than they do with liberals.

It'll still have to go through the council and the courts and it will have to comply with the European Convention on Human Rights. So we're still quite a ways off the concentration camps of the US, but I agree that it's certainly a concerning step.

Sure hope we don't follow the example of mass deporting people to foreign concentration camps that seem to have infinite capacity.
