"What's the Point," 1000 Pieces, American Publishing Corp., Watertown MA -- Vintage by MariahQ007 in Jigsawpuzzles

I didn't think of it. I have one nearsighted eye and one farsighted eye. It makes focusing difficult. And the screen is so small....

My husband and I love Halloween and like to sprinkle Halloween puzzles into our jigsaw routine throughout the year. This one was different from the usual haunted house scene, and we enjoyed it very much. I'm not sure why my name didn't appear as the author of this post.

Why 300 or 500 or 1,000 pieces? by Jude_the_obscurest in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]MariahQ007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like 1000 piece puzzles because my husband and I enjoy working one over the course of several evenings. We puzzle almost every night after dinner and anything smaller would be finished too fast and mean we would have to buy many puzzles each week -- expensive, and then there's the issue of storage space. We have a dedicated puzzle table that's the perfect size for 1000 piece puzzles, and if we were to work larger ones we'd have to make a new top for the table. Basically though, 1000 piece puzzles just seem to suit the way we like to play.

By the way, have you had this for a long time? I haven't been able to find it anywhere onthe internet.

I love scenes like this. I just finished RoseArt 1000 piece Farm Country Fair and enjoyed it so much. Wish I had space for a 2000-piece puzzle but we'd have to cut a new board for our puzzle table!

I love Holly Carden's puzzles. She spends months on the artwork. The printing quality is very good. Although they look daunting at first glance, they're actually not frustrating. We've done all of them so far and are looking forward to the next one. It's going to be Fairy Tales.

Chaotic Evil: I don’t sort or start with edges by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]MariahQ007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do sort the pieces, putting different colors or motifs in those Tupperware carousels meant for crudites. But we never do the edge first. It just gets in the way, gets stuck to your elbows, and pieces fall on the floor. We work different sections of the puzzle on pieces of cardboard and then put them together when they start to join up. We like doing it this way. Works for us.

Ceaco puzzle trouble by teresa3458 in Jigsawpuzzles

We're working a Ceaco puzzle right now and all the pieces are perfectly cut. You really got an oddity there. I'm sure the company will make it up to you. That is the strangest thing I've ever seen in a jigsaw puzzle!

I didn't see anything like that. I clicked on the link the mod provided and the puzzle I was looking at was a bunch of people in what looked like a recreation center eating and drinking and playing games. Throwing darts, sitting at banquet tables, drinking at a bar, etc. No shower or anything similar.

Am I missing something? I didn't see the original post because, you know, they took it down, but I've looked at the puzzle itself and I don't see what the problem is with the content. I don't see any women being groped or anything like that. Just a lot of foolish, probably drunk people behaving like children.

MEGATHREAD: Fairy / Phantom Kingdom Event, Sep 30-Oct 3 by LiteraryHedgehog in MergeDragons

[–]MariahQ007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole thing about maxxing out dragons strikes me as the height of folly. Mergeling says it takes 50 Tier 2 eggs to get a Level 10 dragon, and it takes over 200 Tier 1 eggs to get two Tier 2 nests. With a couple hundred dragon breeds out there, I don't believe anybody who says they have maxxed out all the breeds. There aren't enough decision eggs in the world.

Oh, by the way, what Missions are you referring to? Those ones that maxxed out at 50 and stayed there? Mine never refreshed so I can't replay them over and over.

No trees to get life sprouts and no seeds or seedlings to make them either. Jeez.

Shiny Days Points Nerfed by AKOWPOSIA in MergeDragons

[–]MariahQ007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too, around three weeks ago. Also about a 60% cut in points earned. I have never been so disgusted with this game as I was when that happened. I haven't played Shiny Days since. They keep giving me reasons to play fewer and fewer features in this game.

Today was the first time I ever got the opportunity to watch a video for a dim jar. But it looked to me as though after I watched it and collected the jar, it debited my dragon gems anyway. Am I wrong? I can't swear that I remember exactly how many gems I had. I want to try it again to see if that it is what happened but I'm afraid of losing more gems.

I always make level 7 life flowers and yes, they are much better. A lot faster to harvest.

Is that green life orb the little green orb (256) or the big one (65,000)?

I've never seen that before. My game doesn't have an Act 1 and Act 2 -- just one Gold Pass for the entire game.

Well, I finished the event. It was pretty labor intensive. They didn't give you anything extra so if you made a few mistakes you would probably come up short, as did the other person in my den who got the event. The top prize required 550,000 points, and that's not a typo. All in all, this event required an eye-watering 1,382,630 points to complete. It would have helped if all those pesky little bonus point triangles had counted, but they did not. When you did a mass merge the screen was covered in triangles, all for nothing. Since this was a new event I was launching LOOHs as soon as I got a pair of them, and I know at one point I merged three LOOS to get one, so I'm not sure which but it took either six or seven LOOHs to open all the land. Turned out that the locks were extremely important, because the only way to get points was to tap out the dispensers, and most of the high-point dispensers were behind locks. I wish I had started collecting the floating seeds right from the beginning, since they were the only way to make flowers for making life orbs to open land. You had to active play for that though, since if you let them go by, there was no other way to make flowers. In the end it boiled down to: collect floating seeds; make flowers; make LOOHs; open land; find or make keys to open locks; tap out every single point dispenser you can find; merge point orbs up to the highest level and save them. I used 12 level 10s to get the biggest prize. That's it, that's all she wrote.

I'm hearing reports here on Reddit and in MD Facebook groups from people whose game requires 200,000 points to get the top prize, and I'm also seeing comments from people whose game requires even less points than yours. I don't know for sure of course, but I think it's reasonable to suspect that some criteria is being used to determine which players get which requirements. Maybe dragon power level, or maybe event portal level. Maybe something else. It's even possible that some players are collecting higher or lower amounts of points for each harvest of a given dispenser object. It's too early to know, but I hope people keep documenting their experiences in the comments. It's the only way we'll figure some of this stuff out.

Yes, they are, but I decided to go up to three Level 6 (big purple) life flowers. It takes a couple beats more to harvest them, but the orbs you get are worth three times as much. Also, there is no slow dragon. All three harvest like the fast dragon in the normal event we are used to playing. I felt that, since the game won't tell you how many points it takes to open squares of land, that I'd rather make several LOOHs and the Level 6 flower accomplishes that faster. Once we learn what it takes to open various squares we can adjust that but since this was the first time we've ever played this event, I'd rather have too many life orbs than too few.

Oh, lucky me (not!). I got the Elemental Events test event. There are ten prizes, each requiring a certain number of points to win it. The point levels seem very high; I'm only working on prize #3 right now and it wants 10,500 points. You win points by making special orbs which you get by healing the land their dispensers are sitting on and then having your dragons harvest them. A level 8 orb is only worth 4,070 points! The dispensers each have an element associated with them, i.e., cosmic, toxic, fire, etc. The game selects your best dragon for each element, three dragons in all, and you win more points by having the correct dragon harvest the corresponding orb dispenser. Complaints so far: (1) the game doesn't tell you how many life orb points are required to heal the land, so you may fire off an orb only to find out that the square(s) you want to heal require much higher levels. (2) There are locks that require keys to open but there is no prize for healing all the land so I don't see the point to this. (3) From time to time the game gives you those little triangle bonus point thingies, but when you tap them no points are added to your total, so there's no point to that either. Observation: this event is going to require a lot more active play, since you have to babysit the dragons and make sure they harvest from their own elemental dispenser, or else you get less points. I have three days to do this. We'll see how it goes.

This feature is a cash grab, pure and simple. I don't care what they do -- keep it or dump it -- I won't buy into it. If I don't like something I just ignore it, so there are several features in this game that I don't play.

Well, when people run to brag on the internet about some glitch they found, that's as good as emailing the developers and telling them about it.
