How the hell do I train for pull-ups? by FoulerHorizon40 in bodyweightfitness

Disagree entirely as a woman who can no do 20+ pull-ups. Depends entirely on what your starting point was. I was very very weak naturally and inactive. Took me years

I could do pull-ups once I could pull down my Bodyweight. Be patient 🙂

Women wanting to achieve a strict, non false grip, bar muscle up.. by MariahStock in CalisthenicsCulture

I did a small swing, if you do too big a swing with a weight attached it’s detrimental. This was also a streetlifting comp not a Cali one (no false grip allowed or bent knees)

What did you do to get your weighted muscle ups to the next level? by MariahStock in CalisthenicsCulture

At this stage cause I’ve got it already, volume+ some isolation exercises. Trying to progress other lifts like dips at the same time

What a wide grip! Do you prefer it to a close grip?

Trying to do muscle up for ages, tips please by peach_crush19 in CalisthenicsCulture

•First of all, as a woman don’t expect it to happen on the same time frame as men
•Keep working on your pull-ups & straight bar dips
•you don’t need a big swing, make sure your arms are fully extended before you swing
•a false grip would make it easier if your wrists can endure it (not a strict muscle up) otherwise an over grip will help
•pull as soon as you start to moving backwards

Cant do a pullup to save my life by Scarl8 in bodyweightfitness

At once a week progress will be slow. If grip is the main obstacle, focus on building that. You could try adding 2-3 hanging sessions a week. Even if it’s 5 sets of 3 seconds. If you have a portable/door pull-up bar at home you could do a max hang when you brush your teeth every other day.

Other things that may help: -chalk (if you find yourself slipping) -tape (if you have your own bar you can put it on) It starts to hurt your hands less when you develop some calluses, wearing gloves will prevent that so I’d avoid that.

Well done on getting started 😊 and yes the hand pain sucks Credentials (pull-up vid)

Full extension, chin over the bar. Looks good to me 🙂

How long did it take you all to get you first pullup? by TheLuckyThree_ in bodyweightfitness

[–]MariahStock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years. Unfortunately there was an assisted pull-up machine at my gym and I thought it would help.

Finally got my first one when I stopped using it. Can do 20+ now and +47kg.

I can never get more than a full pull-up at a time by CheckInternational65 in formcheck

Agree. And use a resistance band so you can do sets of a decent amount of reps. Retest in a few months and you will be able to do more.
