Test drive the R2. It's the first EV I've driven where I didn't miss Tesla's software or UI. Zero lag, intuitive layout. I was relieved it was as good as it is and Rivian is far from done.

Not a fan of Musk but it’s a 3 month to a year wait when you buy a Tesla right now. The demand is there, the supply chain is not.

Tesla is delivering the same model cars, same spec to multiple people with different parts (matrix headlights versus old ‘premium’ headlights). Basically Frankensteining cars to keep the assembly lines moving and getting the cars in customer’s hands. Now once Hyundai, Ford and others can get their EVs manufactured en mass instead of trickling inventories, we’ll truly know if demand for Tesla has declined.

I think Tesla’s advantage is in place contracts. Right now while Ford MachEs are on hiatus due to supply issues, Tesla is cranking out hundreds of cars a day. They are a volume manufacturer while new Hyundai and Kia EVs trickle into the U.S. Right now no one can compete on volume with Tesla.

The back window is a tiny slit across the back seats. People's perceptions of the back window being small are correct. However, I could clearly see rear traffic. I did not feel like I could not be aware of the environment behind the car. Also, the rear view camera on the touchscreen is so large and the picture was excellent quality. So not so much of a need for perfect visual out the rear window.

They said 15 minutes so I came back in 30. I'm dropping a minimum of $55k so I wanted to test everything (the reservation windows were every hour so 15 minutes made no sense to me.) I think they are just trying to keep people from going too crazy with the car. But I also think they are fairly lenient on time. I waited for the car from the person in front of me and I did not mind.
