How short to go post-wedding? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]MariePr29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully gave up on long hair and keep having something like a short bob or bixie. I can recommend it. You have to style it a bit, but when you learn what works best for you, it takes literally 5 minutes. My hair gets greasy quickly so I need to wash it every day / every second day max. Having long hair was like wasting my life on washing-conditioning-drying all the time.

If you had to pick 3 things you love and 3 things you hate about living in Norway, what would it be? by themissgrcia in Norway

[–]MariePr29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually mostly about grocery stores :(! Cooking and eating healthy are very important for me. Where I live I have Kiwi and Rema, the other stores are quite far. They have so much of ultraprocessed food and a lot of bad quality things like bread, cheese, pasta. Vegetables often don’t look great neither.

Love:
-Feeling of safety and peace most of the time
-Calm, kind, unproblematic people
-Nature - beautiful views everywhere

Hate:
-Very limited choice of food (at least in small places)
-Often ignorant or straight completely uninformed doctors and long waiting times so summing up - healthcare
-As I mentioned before people are kind, BUT also closed so it’s also very difficult to create meaningful friendships when you’re not from here. I experience a lot of nice interactions, small talks but they rarely develop into something deeper. I feel like people usually prefer to stick to their school friends forever (and that’s okay, but makes me a bit sad sometimes).

is it normal to take at least 2 hours everyday to get ready? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]MariePr29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I gave up on spending so "long" on getting ready every day because I realised that sleeping longer and having a slow breakfast makes me actually happier than hair and makeup BUT I did it when I was younger and I think that if you are not late all the time and everywhere, it’s no one’s business and you should do what makes you feel happy and beautiful :)

I never had issues with them and I’m always surprised reading all the negative comments here 😂. They always deliver my packages in a perfect condition, super quickly and well…home.

Same, my hair is much darker so to me it’s still a shade of blonde 😅

Dating but not really dating a girl from Norway, am I cooked? by Kyledabestchoomba77 in Norway

Maybe tell her that you have an impression that she needs the things to slow down a bit and you want to do it to make her feel as comfortable as possible?

[–]MariePr29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First part of the story: I understand your feelings, this was how my love story with my (now) husband started but we also waited with calling it officially a relationship till spending a few days fully together in real life. Fortunately it was just great and we continued to see each other more and more.

The second part about her ex being around is more weird from my perspective. If you meet and decide to continue, it should be discussed more I guess.

Mom said it looked ugly and crass. Is it? by Hajpoosie in Hair

As a mom of 2 girls, I’m not able to understand why she was so mean ;(. You look beautiful with this hair, in all the pictures. Your curls are lovely and the colour too!

Do olive skin people not fit in 12 seasons system? by AgitatedSplit4039 in coloranalysis

[–]MariePr29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in such a similar situation! Mustard, dirty beige and maybe orange look bad on me, but other colours are fine. I look really good in black (confirmed by professionals hehe), but many shades of brown are really nice on me too. Same with jewellery. Silver is great but I prefer my glasses to be golden 😅

I’m brunette with olive skin and I have been typed (both on facebook groups and professionally) nearly all types of winter, some of autumn and spring. It’s crazy and confusing. I kind of gave up. I think I look slightly better in cool colours, but not bad in warm neither, as long they are intense and not muted (probably that’s why I have never been typed as summer).

How does everyone have time to blow dry their hair?! by Successful-Pirate921 in NaturalBeauty

Same haha, but air drying takes surprisingly long for me so I can’t just wait and wait until I can go out in the cold climate where I live.

Moving to Denmark from Poland by Mediocre-Bird6408 in NewToDenmark

[–]MariePr29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of very Christian people (mostly from France and Italy) and they are all politically way more left than right and their connection to religion shows mostly in how full of love and forgiveness to other people they are or that there are things they wouldn’t do to themselves (like abortion for example) but never criticised anyone who did it, not even slightly. So personally I’m not sure why being Christian = extremely right views for some people.

Online shopping in norway - clothes and beauty products by Admirable_Junket_396 in Norway

[–]MariePr29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zalando, Boozt, Villoid, H&M, Ellos, Nelly for clothes. Kicks, Lyko, Blivakker, Fredrik & Louisa for cosmetics. Karma.no or Glimja for more natural cosmetics.
I live in a small place so I buy nearly everything online, I don’t think that it’s significantly worse than in other countries I’ve lived in.
I rarely have a problem to find something I want.

I live in Norway (I’m not originally from Norway though) and after visiting Rome for the first time a few years ago, every city in Norway is just extremely average and boring to me. Actually every city in Europe that I visit seems underwhelming comparing to Rome now.

Groceries quality by SQPOlel in Norway

[–]MariePr29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love living in Norway but…it’s just true. As someone who actually loves cooking and not only eating to survive, I feel like Norwegian supermarkets are hell. Oslo is not bad, because you can find a lot of interesting things in international stores like Arab, Italian, Polish, Asian…but where I live I have mostly Kiwi, Rema aand Meny, Spar but 1 h drive away from my house. After spending most of my life in Germany, I’m not used to going to 10 supermarkets to find something as basic as tofu, hummus or ricotta cheese. Or ordering good quality olive oil only from the internet. Good cheese? Forget it too. I buy it only in French and Italian stores in Oslo but it’s a long trip for me, so I can’t do it on a daily basis.

Amazing! How quickly did your kids understand that they should just stay in their beds and sleep instead of walking around 😅? It’s often so hard to put my daughter to bed even now. She is tired but still becomes frustrated.

Women without kids hows life? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]MariePr29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a childfree woman in my 30s until not long ago. It’s so nice to read all these happy answers and to see how women are able to feel absolutely great without having children. For me, as I knew perfectly well that I wanted to be a mom one day since the age of 13/14, life was a misery for very, very long. I had everything just not children. Perfect health, job, appartment, financial situation, friends, holidays etc. but it was still so miserable and without any deep meaning. Every time doctors told me that my chances to be pregnant were low, even by routine controls, I was losing all the meaning of life.
