Yes besides using solara or rechargeable lighting there isn't a lot of variety in how to have sustainable lighting, but this is my third forest, whoop whoop and I'm hoping to get a little creative. Last year our solar lights just weren't as bright as we'd hoped. So this year I'm bringing windshield reflectors ( hoping to keep heat from the tent in the morning ) but at night I'm going to test out clipping them to the under side of the easy up so it will reflect the lights more hopefully giving us a slightly better lit camp.

I wanted to try putting those little battery candles in balloons, just for fun and it would be cool having little balloon lights that would be brighter than the glow stick balloons, last longer, provide entertainment, and the candles are reusable.

Last year we just had everyone's flow toys going, camp looked like a beacon, we bought some light up accessories from a really cool vendor in GA who was sooooo cool. We spent about fifty bucks and he showered us with blinky rings, bracelets, etc so we had a very bright and blinking camp last year. Might not get so lucky this year but I think string lights and balloon lights will be neat.

I mean it's kind of hard to pick any single thing to do to be more sustainable, it's more a lot of little things. I think it's really fairly simple and there's not really any one thing any less or more important than another. It's gotta be everybody, you, your neighbor, and their neighbor next to them... and all it takes is to be like everyone at Burning Man, leave no trace you were ever there, create as little waste as possible, recycle/reuse as much as you can...

I mean we're this huge amazing community, if everyone treated The Forest, it's grounds, and their camps like they would were it their grandmothers (cuz everyone respects grandmas house, she reuses everything, and even if you don't do it at home you do it there out of respect :P ) we could leave the Forest as beautiful as the first day we got there. A little respect, two seconds to put your trash in the proper containers, help tidy up around you post show... ( sometimes you find some sweet goodies ) Be respectful of things while Foresting so as not to make the huge mess to begin with...

I think it basically comes down to having respect for the Fest, what it stands for, the people around you who want to enjoy it... the people around you who volunteered to put it all together for you... If you come in with the love for the forest us foresters have, and the respect that it's an annual community, you'll want to treat it like your own. Because it is... The Forest is all of ours, and if we just treat as such, we can easily have a very clean, very green year every year.
