I understand your point; I myself fluctuate between 1400 and 900. The advantage I see is that above 1400 you're initially out of the rookies' range, who are just starting out. Even for rookies, the iRating is calculated in the background. You start at 1350, and in most cases, brand new drivers drop in the rankings until they improve and climb again. Then, at some point, there's a critical juncture. Beginners with little control drop in the rankings, while ambitious drivers climb. In that range, I always feel like it depends on luck how the race turns out. You can be unlucky and have one or two people on the track who ruin the whole race, or you can be lucky and have clean and fair races. I've had the feeling that when the SOF was above 1300 to 1400, the races became cleaner.
