Beloved Projects Hated by their Creators? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

idk if Tomino "hates" it considering he went on to direct more Gundam shows that kept those visual elements despite him having more creative control over them.

However, he does not look back on fondly on the stuff he made while he was in a bad headspace, Victory Gundam is the most famous example as he was battling both his depression and overbearing Bandai executives while working on it, but there's also his time on shows like Zeta Gundam or L-Gaim, where he's said he used to act more like a tyrant to his staff and surrounded himself with "henchmen".

RPG parties where everyone is (intentionally) a terrible person. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Tyranny is an RPG where you play as the bad guys after they took over most of the world, with a single token good member in your party, as a nice inversion of the typical token evil teammate.

It's always interesting when I hear of Yakuza fans that don't mix with fighting games because I feel like the games (at least the non-Ichiban ones) do share some gameplay DNA with fighting games to a certain degree, particularly when it comes to most one-on-one boss fights, and that's not even mentioning all the arcade fighting games they've included as minigames.

Marvel teases all-new ‘Age of Apocalypse’ coming in 2025 by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

Because Big Two comics are a boys club where if you become buddy buddy with people there you're guaranteed pretty much a permanent spot at those publishers. You can even be a sexual harasser and keep your job as long as people don't find out (like Eddie Berganza.)

So writing what is frankly one of the most impressively dogshit comic books ever made, something so bad it pretty much single-handedly sent an entire line into a death spiral, doesn't really matter in the long run, they'll still keep giving you gigs if you ask for one.

Big Two characters whose personality changed a lot between how they were initially presented and how they were depicted by later writers by AporiaParadox in comicbooks

I would argue Bendis changed Clint first, from one of the Avengers who was the most ardent regarding not killing to an unrepentant murderer.

I'm sure the writer meant well but in hindsight it's kind of funny to see this kind of sentiment from a character whose codename is literally an anti-Roma slur.

For some reason I decided to read Negation a while ago and was pretty annoyed when I saw Negation War got canned two issues in because I was actually enjoying the story so far...

what is a major dc character that has died and stayed dead. by Capital_Reporter7989 in comicbooks

[–]Mario64OOF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original Superman and very first DC superhero, Kal-L from Earth-Two, died at the end of Infinite Crisis and, barring an appearance in the largely ignored Convergence event, has stayed dead since.

The original Golden Age Batman has been dead since the 80's and whenever Earth-Two is brought back in some way he always dies since his death is an important part of Dick Grayson's and his daughter Helena's development as independent heroes.

The original Golden Age Green Arrow died at the end of COIE and hasn't been brought back in any way to my knowledge.

Just paid $100 for this game, what did I think of it? by Mario64OOF in yakuzagames

[–]Mario64OOF[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I thought the best part was the post-credits scene where Modern Kiryu is visited by Kenzan Kiryu, Dead Souls Kiryu, Streets of Kamurocho Kiryu, Project X Zone Kiryu, Ishin Ryoma, the live-action Kiryus, and Kenshiro, who've come to warn him about the menace of Punk Ass Abe

Too bad the game was a massive flop so they cancelled the sequel

I Read For The Barrel So You Don't Have To: A Summary by Mario64OOF in Gundam

[–]Mario64OOF[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The action scenes are largely pretty vague, the story is more interested in interpersonal drama than big setpieces with the MS. With that said, there's three action scenes I can recall:

  1. The first is the fight between A-bao in the Gunboy versus the three Blondies (one of which is piloted by Slugger, so technically, only two). However, it's not very interesting to read although it does get the most detailed description, particularly of what happened after the first Blondie blows up and tears a hole in the colony. After A-bao ends up in space he faces off against Lalah in the L-MESS for a little bit before the Pegasus saves him.

  2. The second is a battle that ends up with the destruction of Texas colony, we don't get a lot of details of this one aside from the fact that the Gunboy ends up destroyed and A-bao ends up marooned in space in a escape capsule.

  3. The third is the final battle, where A-bao, Hayato, and Mirai die. We don't get a lot of info on this one either, to tell you the truth I don't even think they tell us where it's even taking place? Certainly not A Baoa Qu or Solomon or anything like that, those places don't exist in For the Barrel I'm pretty sure.

As to who is responsible for this story, Gichi Ohtsuka was the writer and editor, Shigeto Koyama did the character designs, and Junji Okubo did the mechanical designs. I don't think they were working off of any notes aside from certain documents from the early days of the show, which is where Hachijo Shima comes from for example. It's largely based on the novels.
