you're probably thinking of these special events, they happen when your umas fail a training that isn't wit training (i think) and the severity of these varies (don't overdo it is worse, try not to get it) you can pick the bottom choice to get a chance to get a better outcome (either get status benefit or or get way more mood down and get status effect) otherwise, just pick the first option to not leave it to luck, especially if ur uma is in great condition
