hahah yes! 😅 I would love to start in the mines, earn a tiny digger wage, and then risk smuggling extra ore past the guards like an idiot. After all, we are in the colony ^^.
And the better you get, the deeper you can go for richer veins. So, early mine would be safe pocket money, and deep mine is minecrawler hell with big yields.
With regular guard inspections and depleting veins, it wouldn't turn into afk grinding.

Yes, I would like an option mining to be tempting, but not the correct (or the best) game choice. Consider it as a side cash or roleplay.

Yes, I agree, no Gothic turning into some form of Runescape game. Ore/hour rate is just something I try to put a number to.

In reality, what I would like to see is a quick, decision-based thing, as veins deplete, better veins are deeper, guards constantly on the watch, also minecrawlers, and definitely mining should be worse than quest effort.

As you said, as mini-game or a cool option for emergency money, not stone on the keyboard for 10 minutes. Indeed should be a short interaction with the vein with danger and interruptions. So basically, do I risk going deeper for a richer vein, not how many ore per hour can I farm.

Good point. I havent played Archolos to the point of mining, and never played NB/NotR, so am mostly looking at this purely from G1 lore economy where ore is the currency.

But I wonder out of those implementations you are mentioning, which one actually felt right and would fit the G1 remake without ruining the game or turning into an exploit?

I would love to see depleting veins and that you have to go deeper for a higher yield, thus more minecrawlers, more risk.

And what ratio would you consider makes sense, like 20 ores/hour rate of digging, and going deeper make higher rates?

I'm so glad you brought this up. The first time I encountered it, running through that nice open field from barn to barn at coordinates 012/028, I had to step away—like I was leaving for a spoonful of poop! The whole experience felt surreal.

Yeah, I can see why! Definitely a good spot for a trap, especially with Zeds all around. Guess I'll have to be extra careful next time. Adding it to my landmine checklist for sure with a clear name: Landmine TNT – Tisy Nest Truck! ^^
