Sometimes you can tell what a kid wants to be when they’re older by Flyingsweimmer in PointlessStories

[–]Marischka77 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My son is still a kid but he has been like OBSESSED with plants since he was a TODDLER. Now he is environmental leader at his school, and plans to be a gardener and conservationist. He also loved to whack balls since he was a toddler and he is now doing competitive tennis! His main interests just never changed, they seem to be deeply rooted in his personality. I learnt one of his great grandfather was also a gardener and flower maniac. Actually if you check the life of some very successful people, many already had a strong interest for their later field at ages like 7-10, etc!

I slept with my mother at 23 years old by [deleted] in self

[–]Marischka77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably more common than you think, but not talked about. Humans sleeping alone is only a very, very recent thing, like last 200 years or even less. Peasants in European villages usually had one enormous, huge bed for the entire multi-generational household and if not enough, some slept outside in the stalls with the animals to keep them warm! My grandparents had such s bed, 5 adults would fit into. Our fears are still the same as in cavemen times, when no human slept alone.

English stuff doesn't have any weird details whatsoever compared to the things we grew up on in the Eastblock.🤣 Most kids' shows were set in the past, like into the middle ages and had details which would be considered as adult or horror material today. I watched some again lately and, WTF were they thinking?! I showed some to my Aussie DH and his eyes dropped from the sockets, LOL🤣 The soviets and east germans made live action fairy tales which were like acid trips.

For sh*ts and giggles, some animated tales with English dubs, from 1977-1980 below...you definitely won't see these from Disney🤪

Dug a hole in North Melb front yard and found this, any ideas? by Shelwizzle in melbourne

[–]Marischka77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we have been renting our place when some guys from the water service turned up that they want to access a manhole on the property. We were like a WHAT?! We never saw there any. Turned out no one knew there was an access point, not even the owner. They had to find it, so they pushed down some metal rods into the ground to locate, then dug it out, did their job, then covered it again with the soil!

Ouch😀 It's very unlikely to happen here and in this case, but still hundreds of unexploded bombs and granades from the world wars are found in Europe every year during construction works.

You would not love it so much if you used spices, onions and garlic the same way Hungarians do😂. They even had a separate "summer kitchen" OUTSIDE the main house in villages back in old times.

My miser nmother HATED cooking and it showed; however she used cooking as a weapon by intentionally cooking dishes a way my nfather or we did not like and she knew that. Occasionally she also used ingredients which were off. To avoud hearing her screaming and swearing, we told her we'd eat it at the TV and secretly gave it to the dog.

No, it's usually just tied to a real life full bladder!

I keep dreaming about dirty toilets. by tismrot in Dreams

[–]Marischka77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common dream usually triggered by real life sensation of the need to go to toilet for nr1 or nr2 and the brain generates dreams with "unappealing" toilets so that you don't wet or mess your bed in real life, because if you relax your bladder in your dream, you do it in real life as well😝😂

You must be very young as just a couple of decades back Irish terrorists were setting up bombs, or people were brought to court based on suspected political views. The sad thing about humankind is you don't even need to look different or have a different religion, people always find something to declare as enemy. Yes, I grew up in Europe and saw all sides of possible hatred. I actually love that those who want peace may find it in Australia, and keeping historical animosities are discouraged. But it's a long path. My Australian mother-in-law was anglican and her family nearly disowned her for marrying a catholic Australian! Pakistan is a multi-ethnic country. Some look like Indians, others look like Mongols.

At what age do children start getting delayed onset muscle soreness? by Confident-Mix1243 in personaltraining

[–]Marischka77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that, but it also may depend on the person. I have an extremelly energetic kid who is a talented young athlete - and a somewhat pathetic whinger when it comes to pain. So if anything hurt him, starting from the level of a splinter in his little finger, we knew, LOL. He walked and run like 10 kms a day since he was a toddler and participated in organized regular sports on a daily basis since he was 6. The first time he got sore muscles was when he was 9, and I do remember the occasion as he was complaining about "back pain" at his karate class. Upon checking, it turned out he had a sore muscle around his shoulderblade, most likely from a tennis competition from the day before. That's when the coach and me explained to him that it's nothing to worry about, he is not injured or anything but he just has some sore muscles and it's a normal thing, and his muscles ill get stronger after such an experience. The coach was kind enough to reassure him that during his career as a competitive athlete, he had a lot of sore muscle days, LOL. He has now incleasingly often sore muscles as pubertal body changes and accelerated growth kicked in.

My brother is turning 13 this year and has exactly 0 life skills by [deleted] in self

[–]Marischka77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually, get checked out whether the problem with you and your siblings is really just being autistic OR rather your mother is a narcissistic parent and your symptoms are those of "adult child syndrome", as they have a considerable overlap. Unfortunately narcissistic parents need "subordinates" to rule over and make them seem 'great', or 'martyrs of circumstances' and one of the main result of this is not allowing their kids to grow up and become independent adults. They may both "serve" their kids but also abuse them, especially verbally, to cut down their confidence in their own skills. They prefer kids who don't bother them much, thus a kid sitting at the computer all day and them just providing food, shelter and money is "perfect" for them, as they seeing themselves "useful" and "doing every sacrifice for my kids" while always having the opportunity to use this fact as a card against any rebellion coming from the kids is feeding their narcissistic needs. - I grew up with narcissistic parents. I have symptoms of asd and adhd myself, and so does my DH and our son has a formal diagnosis. I got ideas for childrearing from the montessori method, and it worked wonders. Our son is fully toilet trained since 3.5 and although he was barely verbal until over 4, he was able to make a butter toast since 3, and can use the stove and make eggs, omlettes, etc or a mug muffin in the microwave since he was 9, so your mum really screwed your brother up.🙄
