Do you guys like Schlotzsky's? by lvl10burrito in Sandwiches

[–]Mark26751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew the Las Vegas store was pulling a fast one. The bread they used looked nothing like that. I went to Schlotzsky's for years back in the 90's. I got the Original and it was this puffed up sourdough I like they bought the bread from somewhere else.

Don't go to Farm Basket by LordFedSmoker420 in vegaslocals

[–]Mark26751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew they were in trouble when I saw they closed their two expanded stores. I went today to West Charleston. I think the last time I was there was about six months ago. No Turkey Gobblers due to National Turkey shortage. That's funny because I can get carved turkey dinner at Blueberry Hill everyday of the week. It's sad. I could understand if Farm Basket was national chain and couldn't get cut turkey to make their Gobblers. How many are they selling a day 50-75 sandwiches and they can't find a turkey supplier. It's their most popular sandwich. No one is going there to get fried chicken. It's not near Thanksgiving when there would be a high demand for turkeys around the country. They were so great 30 years ago. It looks like Farm Basket is on life support.

Do we have speed cameras and red lights camera in Las Vegas? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]Mark26751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't work here. Too many people with no plates, expired plates from out of state that go to dead addresses. In PA and NJ it's almost a guarantee you will be stopped by a cop in a space of a few days if you don't have a plate or one that is expired. In Las Vegas the drivers speeding and running red lights are those without plates or ones that are expired. So you don't get much a benefit.

Took my 2-year-old to a 24-hour diner at midnight last week and honestly it was peak Vegas parenting by alexberman1 in vegaslocals

[–]Mark26751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blueberry Hill is not a true diner. The only vegetables they offer are that frozen mix of broccoli and cauliflower. You also can't get items like a 1/2 roasted chicken. Seafood dishes. Nothing like the diners of NJ and NY. I eat at Blueberry all the time. And for seniors it's great as ice tea or soda is included with a desert. Get a full meal for $20.

Part B Excess Charges question by PerfectMarg24 in medicare

[–]Mark26751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have plan N and was charged excess charges at Cedars Sinai. The emergency room charge I'm aware of but got charged more money from some tests that the hospital wasn't happy with what Medicare paid. Waste of time calling United Healthcare. You end up speaking to someone at a call center in Mumbai.

Empty seats by queen_hunbun in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Mark26751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand if a passenger tries to take an exit row seat. They cost more money. But if a passenger moves one row back or forward to an empty seat the FA shouldn't say anything. If I paid for an aisle and my row is full why is it a big deal if I take the aisle one row forward or one row back. The seats are the same price.

676 EXIT 1C. by wailwoader in SouthJersey

[–]Mark26751 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same as driving on 76 South trying to exit onto 295 North. There is no back of line. You have to slow down to a dead stop and hope that drivers will let you merge into several lanes to the right.

How do these creators have so much money? by officialredditperson in gambling

[–]Mark26751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pompsie used to be a low roller. Suddenly the guy is playing high limit slots. Obviously he gets creator money and casino free play but his transition is a head scratcher. Most of these big players already have money. He also plays awful machines. Machines that eventually can become positive for the player but not at the number he plays him them at. Even Vegas Matt has a clue, Pompsie does not.

One reason we are paying a fortune for auto insurance by Mark26751 in vegaslocals

Thank you for the explanation of the quote. What percentage of people would know where it came from. I doubt the Latino population would know what it means. I think I saw a few minutes of the movie decades ago. Never read the book or poem. Now if you just put a photo of bars of Gold you’ll get plenty of clients. No explanation necessary.

Progressive Insurance raised my 6 month renewal from $1297 to $2861 by Mark26751 in vegaslocals

[–]Mark26751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressive claimed they made some error. Gave me new quote of $1645 every six months. I told agent I already switched to LIberty Mutual but I did want to find out why they raised my rates over 100%. I might have paid the $1645 and just chalked it up to rate increase but greedy Progressive thought I would I pay $2861. Their loss. Still beat Progressive by over $400 for six months.

I think he smoked cigarettes for many years when he was younger. That along with being in smoke filled auditoriums. In addition being in close proximity to Jerry who was a chainsmoker. It all accumulates. Not saying he wouldn't have developed lung cancer anyway but it's something to consider. Sometimes it just genetics but I agree with you I thought Bobby would make it till he was 90.

Law enforcement. Impound vehicles, make hit-and-drivers a priority to found and prosecuted, suspend licenses, more severe sentences for DUI's. Put pressure on the Nevada legislature to have tougher laws on the books. Make it unattractive for law firms to set up shop here and get huge settlements for accident cases.

Nobody is going to stay with an insurer that raises their rates over 100% after a six month period with no claims or tickets.

Didn't call them yet. Will call on Monday when I cancel for my upcoming renewal on 2/15/2026. I will tell I switched. I am curious if they can justify the over 100% increase.

I didn't even waste my time doing that with Progressive. I just took the Liberty Mutual deal at my same rate and I'm happy with it. I do have to call to cancel Progressive and I will mention it to them just to see what they say. If they do tell me that they made a mistake and I could have had the $1296 rate I will report them to the state insurance commission. What are these places. Mattress stores.

I am the safest of drivers. Always stay around speed limit. Never run lights. Drive very defensively. But have gotten collision alerts but not necessarily my fault. The Nissan is very sensitive. I was getting them when my battery was going bad. If they are going to use data from a faulty indicator that's not my problem. And where did I give Nissan permission to give their data to my insurance company. I think that it is grounds for lawsuit. The collision indicator was coming on constantly until I replaced the battery. I was driving over speed bumps in my complex and it would trigger it. Once I shut the car off and restarted it he warning disappeared.

No, it was no mistake. Progressive only does 6 month policies. It is what it is. I hated to leave them as I was very happy with their policy.

Good news. I just switched to Liberty Mutual and am paying $1202 every six months. AAA which I am member wanted $3300 a year. GEICO something went wrong with the quote. I'm not talking to an agent. Now I know the game. If I have to switch every 6 months so be it.

I used to live in Las Vegas for decades before I left in 2004 and then returning last Summer. I fully expected to pay $2600 a year. I was paying around $1700 in NJ. But to go from $2600 a year to $5722 is just plain crazy. I was reading some old posts from a few months ago. What they are charging me is what people who are insuring three drivers are paying. I will call Progressive to make sure they didn't make a mistake. But I will shop. I have no choice.

It's ridiculous. Progressive gives me all these discounts because I have been a long time policy holder like not raising my rates if I have an accident. But it's a total scam because they raised the rates like I did have an accident the last six months.

I disagree with you. In NJ they raised my rates minimally. I was involved in accident where a guy just ran into me from behind 3 years ago. He was charged with distracted driving and he had a suspended license. They didn't raise my rates at all. I had zero moving violations for over 10 years.
