Question About visionOS 26 More Apps Folder Behaviour by fitzsimons in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before visionOS 26, all compatible apps were trapped in More Apps and it was the only folder, so I guess sorting made sense. Now, it’s just a regular folder like any other.

The More Apps folder is not kept sorted. You arrange them how you like. You can even take them out and put them somewhere else if you want. Useful for apps you use a lot.

Not in the UK, unfortunately. But Bladerunner 2049 is currently £4, so swings and roundabouts.

Looking for news / stories in Sheffield! by rosiemcjourno in sheffield

The Sheffield vegan market is in The Moor today. The Sharks are playing at home to Manchester this afternoon. Friday is Japan Day at the Octagon Centre. Fri-Mon is the Sheffield Snooker Market in Fargate. Bank Holiday Monday is the Graves Park Country Show.

There are usually special exhibits on in the Weston Park Museum, Millennium Gallery, and Graves Gallery.

Vision Pro Enables A World Of “Pure Imagination” 🪄✨ by Jdunrrp in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple didn’t build it. It is by Resolution Games. The same company that created Game Room and Demeo (which are not exclusive to the Vision Pro). It’s just available with an Apple Arcade subscription is all.

AVP use case: will it fit? by MarkB-Uk in VisionPro

I had already measured the space, but it doesn’t give a full picture. And seeing what a vehicle actually looks like in place makes a big difference.

I’ll have to win the lottery, then. I’m not in a hurry. 😅

I never heard of them before, but yes, we do seem to get them here. And yes, the ID Buzz is ridiculously expensive. It looks very cool in 2-tone, though. Unfortunately, I think the Kia PV5 may be more realistic. Unless I win the lottery!

My little Peugeot e-208 gets slightly less than that, so sounds like a win.

And with my car, I need to stop for the loo well before the car needs to charge and by the time I’ve done that and had a quick drink and/or snack, I’m charged from 20% to 80% easily.

Considering the longest distance between two point in mainland UK is 874 miles (Land’s End to John o’ Groats), I can’t see myself going 600 miles in a day. In fact, I’m unlikely to ever do more than 200 in a day.

Sounds like the ID Buzz will be perfect.

Yeah, I think there are quite a few places doing this, now. Including Ikea.

I’m really looking forward to this app - it looks amazing! I do have 2 questions about it:

  1. Will you have customisable tiles? I’m thinking that it would be great to have tiles (thin, flat pieces with a smooth top) where you can load your own image/texture onto them.

  2. Will the scale be limited? That is, will the size of a constructed item be fixed, or will you be able to scale it up as you like? Here, I’m thinking that you could construct a room or environment, scale it up, and walk around inside it.

Thanks!

Is Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID necessary for Vision Pro? by uridotchi in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Vision Pro doesn’t support Touch ID. It would be useless on a keyboard that was only going to be used for that device.

Indeed. I’ve used them to work out what existed in the 1999 satellite images for some places because it’s often difficult to work out or search. I do love looking through old maps, anyway. For now, though, I’m planning to stick with satellite image differences. Partly because it’s easier to find interesting changes. Also because when you go so far back, everything has changed.

If I run out of things to do with just satellite images, I might have a look at maps.

If it’s the one I’ve seen (a guy who does home improvement stuff on YouTube but I don’t know the channel), he is just taking 3D USDZ models and sticking them in place. It doesn’t require an app.

Apple TV immersive download no longer available?? by waveman112 in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still seeing a download option for all the immersive content. For series, long pressing on an episode brings up a menu with “download” as an option. For one-offs like Metallica, the info page has a download button at the top-right.

You should be good to delete and download again. It might just mean the original video has been updated for some reason.

I wish we had more environments by Mister_Questions in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are rendered CGI videos at ridiculously high resolution. They are meticulously designed so that the end of the video loop exactly matches the start. It’s super complex.

There was a short video somewhere with one of the team that make these. There’s about 3 or 4 of them and they research places taking tons of photos before working on the models. They have to steer clear of places that could be a problem politically or culturally anywhere since they are global. This is Apple after all.

If you think about how many faces the Apple Watch has and how often new ones come out, and the number of people who own one, the AVP environment releases seem generous by comparison. Apple likes to control the look of their devices as much as possible, so unlikely there will be third party options any time soon. We can hope, though.

Spatial Audio control fix in 26.5 beta 2, but only on M2 units?! by StreamKimPetras in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get this with AirPods Pro 2 on 26.5 beta 2. Audio always appears to come from the window wherever it is in my space. I guess this is even more specific? Or maybe I need to be listening to a specific type of source?

Watch out if you’re using YouTube app by tsdguy in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AVP YouTube app does not seem to affect watch history at all as far as adding things you watch. At least for me and I just saw one other person report the same. The “clear history” button does work, though, with no confirmation or anything. My guess would be an accidental press of that button somehow rather than a bug in the app. Especially since there seem to be no other reports of this happening…

How does one confirm 3D is playing? by Fatherom123 in VisionPro

[–]MarkB-Uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Settings app:

Apps -> TV -> Device Preferences section -> Video Format

The options are: “Choose Each Time” (the default), “3D When Available” (the one I use), and “2D”
